hmmn...if that is the measure...lets abolish defence, baby bonus, family tax benefit...complete and utter waste...both the programs you slander have generated worthwhile goods plus they pump primed the economy at a crucial time...the ALP saved the Oz economy....not that I think Oz deserves to do well - given our vocation as a nation seems to be the rich mean spirited white hacienda with 5 brms and pool trash of Asia....as individuals we squander on yet more tellies that will ultimately find their way into landfill
Australia needs a sharpishcontractioncontractions
We'll get a lot if the MM has his way and introduces more child bearing friendly policies and abolishes abortions and condoms.

Bradman wrote:Any mining tax reforms alone would modernise a system that hasn't changed much since Federation and is in desperate need of a facelift. But no! A bunch of zillionaires, one who's in jail, one the judge said should be in jail, one waiting for the CMC to fall on him, one who escaped rotting in a prison by having his body rot in a West African jungle and one who stepped down so as to save his fortune when the authorities finally catch him up and his company's share price plummets mount the most ludicrous and deceitful campaign in the country's history.
.
The mining industry (and the Oz economy) may benefit from royalty/mining tax reform ...however the way that it has been handled in this case is farquing woeful
Rudd and Swan announce (with Zero consultation) the RSPT which is a complete joke (one of 3 out of 100+ Henry recommendations) ...Rudd gets knifed and Swan gets left out of the re-jigging consultation where the finance gurus from Rio , BHP and X Strata show up the amateur hour that was Treasury modelling for the tax ...they then allow the big 3 to tell them what the tax should be and they come up a solution that will stop any small players from becoming big players by taxing the living crap out of them if they look like becoming successful
They also didnt see the farquen obvious loophole that if a state govt increases their Royalties then the Fed govt refunds that out of MRRT to the miners....and now want to whinge because Barnett increased the Royalties on Iron Ore ...
It's typical ALP ....a good idea ...hurriedly announced ...badly implemented ...full of holes ...and wont do the job its supposed to do

Rule #1
When challenged, demand the figures (in the hope that, despite numerous quotes & statistics, the person making the claim has'nt bookmarked it)
Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (III)
it is because you don't have it
it is fine if you hate the ALP
it is fine if you hate Gillard
What is not fine is if you make up numbers that are just plain wrong.
It's like if I said 30 000 000 civillians died in the Iraq War. It is a figure so absurd it is unbelievable. Just like your figures with the wastage.

absolute waste of time debating with you people who make up rubbish
reminds me of some shock jocks whose only listeners are those who eat out of colostomy bags.
just keep making up numbers to suit your argument

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (III)
Once again you can't back up your claims. So maybe you should STFU as you kindly suggest I do.
I might as well say that foreign debt under Howard grew by 1500%. Wouldn't surprise me if it did.

As you seem obsessed with statistics, here's a few more.
Labor Waste
No...they don't add up to $50 Bill but thats not the real point is it. The point is that this Government has an appalling record of wasting taxpayers money. Pink Batts is just one of many poorly thought out, badly implemented & incompetently managed schemes. Perhaps 50$b is the total amount of all their incompetence. I don't know & i don't care about the fine print. I'm just one of many schmucks who are having to pay through the nose because of their arrogant stupidity.

The usual good common sense stuff from Gittins.
However, at the moment, the Mad Monk's "sky is falling" routine seems to be winning given that he's ably supported by the shock jocks and News Limited.

And just on the NBN, apparently quite a few people are not even giving permission for their property to be linked to the NBN - for free. What a bunch of morons. Whenever they go to sell their property from now on, one of the first things a buyer will ask if whether it is NBN-ready.

Been watching the Hawke series on Foxy's History Channel recently (yeah, yeah, I missed it the first time it was on). Jeeezus, does it paint Keating as a giant quntish d!ckhead or what? A qunt of a human being that basically thought Australia was the arse-end of the world. Good show.
