Aus Federal Politics thread (XV)
Poor reporting of the SG's advice by the ABC. It is less than unequivocal and highlights the uncertainty of the High Court's determination of what would be a different sort of case brought before it. If Qmy wants an arvo snooze he could give the SG's opinion a read and give us his view

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XV)
rofl.... Truffles has the 43 petition but is ringing around to ensure there was no bullying going on. He is going down the hard way and showing more cohunas than thought possible. If only he had publicly kicked the hell out of the MM, Anazi, Andrews et al inc Murdoch a year or so ago the country would not be in a pickle.
I expect that few non lunar rights will agree to serve on the Spudhead front bench, not that few will be offered the chance.

Yup. 45-40 to ScoMo.
Better outcome than Voldemorte.
I'm guessing J-Bish will again be Deputy.

Interesting that Dutton got his 43 signatures but 3 of them then voted for ScoMo.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XV)
I must say fair play to Turnbull. A decent enough person and a centrist Tory, neither a moderate nor a fascist.
He was placed in an impossible position from the outset. He did the right thing in taking on the out of control dumbo MM and saved his Party and government in the process.
His leadership was marked by the continual undermining from the MM, Anazi, Andrews, shock jocks like Hadley and the Parrot and the Murdoch media and its minions.
Arguably he should have taken them on directly, esp the MM and Murdoch. But maybe it was too hard and the cards were stacked against him.
Still as a pollie he always seemed a sensible and decent human being. No doubt he had some achievements he can point to. Winning in 16 after the MM craziness remains an under rated achievement. Gay marriage rights I guess he will count as well. (of course I am opposed to the availability of church or state koala stamps on relationships).
I expect too in Cabinet he held a middle course, moderating extremist views from types like Terry Lewis jnr and Sco Mo. He also resisted pressure to include the MM in Cabinet, gift Credlin's hubby a job overseas or employ the Credlin canker in any capacity.
Who knows what the Cabinet papers when released will show about in house discussions.
No doubt he will point to the economy and employment levels. He will not acknowledge the decline in real wages, increased casualisation at the expense of capital.

Turncoat had two big failings, h. He's a narcissistic damp squib. Weak and wishy-washy but always thinking of himself over the country.
I think ScoMo has a record of getting the job done. Whether he can turn around the Govt's fortunes is another matter.

Spudhead just pledging loyalty to ScoMo. I wonder what that is worth.
Josh Freaky is Deputy. That wont wash with the extremists. His Cabinet and outer Cabinet selections will be interesting. Will he bring the MM, Anazi, Spudhead back in the tent? The extremists esp MM and the Murdoch/shock jock media have never got over his betrayal of the MM.
Hillsong is now up there with Murdoch and Fat Gina as the post powerful entity outside Parliament.

That is a little unfair S. He was smart and gutsy at the end. I feel a little odd defending a bloke I'd happily place against the metaphorical wall.

Great presser from Truffles. If anything he looked a relieved happy man. Pity he only subtly sunk the boots in the MM and the Murdochians, talking about their madness without naming them.

I can't imagine the stress of being Prime Minister. You only have to look at how quickly Turncoat's hair went totally white.
All I can say is people with ambitions to be PM must have massive egos.

Aye Skullwags. I always was suspicious of myself in the relatively trivial leadership rolesI undertook. In fact I hated management. You would have to an ego Edmund Hilary could not scale when he was alive, young and fit to run for office let alone be PM. Truffles has been assaulted from day 1.
His departure contained no tears, no nonsense only thanx to family, staff and loyalists and some well aimed sharp barbs at the loony right and the Murdochians. Notably he lashed racism. Frankly it was terrific for the human condition.

Turnbull could always switch sides. I would'nt be the first to say he would make a great Labor PM.

My wife was 34 years old when she had her 6th Prime Minister. By May next year, my son will see his 6th at the age of 9.
