Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (III)
Don't blame me, I voted for the Australian Sex Party (which inadvertently doubles as the Australian Zionist Party given that Austen Tayshus was my local candidate).

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (III)
Old Richo states the bleeding obvious again.....
Former Labor powerbroker Graham Richardson has delivered a damning assessment of the federal government's performance, predicting that Labor would lead the country for less than another year under Julia Gillard's stewardship.
The former cabinet minister said the latest debacle surrounding the offshore processing of asylum seekers proved the government was in a "terrible mess" from which it was impossible for the Prime Minister to recover.
"It does require some leadership to get out of it and that's the one thing that Julia Gillard has not provided in the last 12 months," Mr Richardson told radio 3AW, adding that it was "too late" for Ms Gillard.
"There's no way she can turn this around. You've got to say it gets worse for her every single day. It never gets better, it just gets worse."
Mr Richardson said the Gillard government, with its single-seat grip on power, would attempt to ride out the controversy but would not survive for the remainder of the term.
He predicted independent MP Andrew Wilkie would demolish Labor's slim hold on power over poker-machine legislation.
"I can't imagine Wilkie keeping them going beyond the middle of next year because I can't see how they're going to get that poker-machine legislation up," Mr Richardson said.
"So I'd say they've probably got 10 months or so to run but I can't see it running much longer than that."
Labor was also caught between a "rock and a hard place" because the independents on whose support the government relied had made a deal with Ms Gillard, and not with Labor, Mr Richardson said.
"They always indicated if you change the individual the deals are off, so you go straight out of government if you change leaders," Mr Richardson said.
"There are those who would argue now that things are going so badly for Labor maybe they're better off cauterising the wound, dumping her and getting a new leader now and saying 'OK, let's go from here.' That's something you'd have to consider but that's not what will happen I don't think. I think far more likely they'll just battle on and hope that something turns up."

Isn't he saying, they won't get the pokies deal up and Wilkie has already said he'll withdraw his support.
That has been on the cards for months.

Beattie "might" get the swing back through Billyness especially if they plan to parachute him into a top position ...a lot of the Billy swing was a protest of the Ruddaxing
Beattie couldn't win a chook raffle - he is on the nose in Qld. Even the ALP know that - and his brand needs a decade before it is simply labelled a shite.
The ALP also won't win Brisbane because gambaro is too high profiled.
The other thing is if they parachute him into a seat to become PM - they lose cred re: the attack on "can do" who is doing just that.

You'd know more about Billy politics than me so I wont argue
If what you say is correct why would they even bother with the offer and then admit to making it ...Clueless qunts?

Cos they're garquen pinkos
It is always more about doing themselves or a mate a favour rather than what is best for the party or dare say it the country
If they were half serious Ruddy would back in charge

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (III)
The latest poll in Tassie has seen Labor sink to just 16% of the primary vote. The Greens are at 14%. Libs at 44%. Even when you include the undecided % the Libs would have walked in. No chance of this happening in the short term. The Labor/Green qunts will put themselves ahead of the wishes of the electorate & will keep steering Tassie into the abyss.
Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (III)
It would be interesting to know how the average Tasmanian's life has been made worse by this government.

Mate....i don't have the time or the bandwidth to detail it here. Suffice to say it is massive.

Oh dear. Yes, that was my point. The Taswegians hate the pinkos as much as you hate the Libs, yet neither of your lives were ruined by the party you hate.JGK wrote:My life wasn't made dreadful under LJH. Far from it in fact.

Sher you don't. Aren't you the guy that wiped his arse with the Lib how-to-vote slips at the polling station at the last election, and handed them back to the volos?

By 'Government' i assumed you were referring to the Tas Government. This Government has been racked with incompetence, corruption, cronyism & waste for over a decade. Their last grasp at power by kowtowing to the Greens was the last straw. People are demanding change but the qunts refuse to listen.
