First 50 partnership for England 9th wicket since Swann & Anderson put on 106 at Centurion in December 2009. First in a domestic Test since Swann & Anderson's 68 in the first Ashes Test at Cardiff in '09.

Swanny hasn't done yet. Skully's next stats question should be on 9 or 10s topscoring in an innings.

I think we may have once had a number 11 top score, Harmison against NZ it might have been?

india have well and truly lost the plot. need 3-4 tight overs at the very least
and there goes swann. scary delivery! hope that india does not get many like that

Regarding Harmison top scoring at 11, it did happen but it was against the Yarps not the Snoozers.

Re: England v India, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 29 Jul-2 Aug, 2011
Found an interesting stat on last year's Trent Bridge Test - the top scorer in every innings was batting at 6 or lower.
Eng 1st - EJG Morgan (6) 130
Pak 1st - Umar Gul (9) 65*
Eng 2nd - MJ Prior (7) 102*
Pak 2nd - Danish Kaneria (10) 16*
As Broad (or Anderson!) will top score in this innings, that's five straight Test innings on this ground that's happened.

Here's hoping for 6.
Actually scratch that, if SRT makes a 100 I don't want Bhaji making 150!

Yeah, I'm torn between a real England fightback and seeing a piece of cricketing history tomorrow. Hopefully he can make 100 of India's 180 or something like that. (That's SRT not Onion Bhajji of course!)

First 50 by an England No.9 since Broad's 169 against the Paksters at Lord's last year. First at TB since De Freitas' 55* against the Windies in 1991. First against the Bannies since Eddie Hemmings' 51 at The Oval in 1990.
De Freitas provides a rare instance, along with this match probably, of a No.9. topscoring with the only 50+ score of the innings (for those who want a heads up on Skullly's next trivia quiz)

HS by an England No.9. at The Bridge beating Jim Laker's 63 in 1948. 1 off Umar Gul's overall record of 65* made here last year.

Still a bit below par but in these conditions you probably wouldn't have expected England to get 400 so it's possibly a competitive score.
Unless India rack up 550 of course...

Well, I reckon we'd have taken that at 88 for 6.
