Could'nt have come at a worse time for Paine. Still...Australia's loss is Tassies gain.

Hey RD, I think you might just have garnered a glossary term there.

Re: Paine might miss the boat
Paine needs to move to dubberland quickly if he wants to get ahead...Neville (ex vix now spiv keeper) will be the big threat to take over from Haddit..
fwiw, haddit could go down in history as our worst keeper since Wayne Phillips attempted to be a backstop in the 80s

Phurrt...Neville is just a journeyman keeper. I doubt he is in serious contention.
If Paine is unavailable, next in line will be Wade (ex Tossie )

Its use was decreed by the Monkeh. I was merely the first to use it in a sentence

current standings - a fair sample now
Interesting table of Oz keepers and their performance behind the stumps. Yet, there are still some calling for Paine to be replaced by Wade, whose keeping AND batting are worse over the journey. Also, but for the Australian heartbreak that was Headingley, he'd already have retaining the Ashes in England on his CV, unlike our other better-credentialed post-Waugh captains.

Good to see him finally contribute with the bat. He did not have the best of matches at Headingly as Skipper or with the bat and the gloves.

Nice work by Ima. He's probably got another 25 Tests in him so at 4 dismissals per Test he should move past Grout into 5th spot on that list eventually.

Apparently when he made his last (and so far only) FC century, Tony Blair was UK PM and George W Bush was US President.

validation ...
He's the first Australian captain to retain or win the Ashes in England for 18 years, in that achieving something beyond Ponting and Clarke.

And Ponting managed to lose them at home. Jeez he and Clarke were shit house skippers under pressure.

Jury is still considering.
He is also the first Australian captain to lose a home series against India.

Good display of captaincy last night by Ima, overcoming the review debacle at Leeds.

He hasnt won the series yet. He’s just retained the Ashes that Smith won.

And we may never know if Smith was up to the feat himself.

Aus should be relaxed for a good performance at the Oval.

I'm a bit worried about the bowling unit having to back up after a big Day 5 bowling effort. Would they rest Cummins for Patto?

I'm hoping no, but I think they might just do that. Cot has a fair record at The Oval, so he might get a guernsey.
