Libya's ruling council fighters arrest Gaddafi, Al Jazeera says
October 20, 2011 - 10:37PM
Muammar Gafddafi has been captured in his home town of Sirte, Al Jazeera television is reporting.
A National Transitional Council commander said the ousted Libyan strongman had been badly wounded in the fighting which mopped up the last resistance of his supporters in the town.
‘‘He has been captured. He is badly wounded, but he is still breathing,’’ Mohamed Leith told AFP, adding that he had seen Gaddafi himself and that he was wearing a khaki uniform and a turban.

Libyan TV channel ‘‘Libya lil Ahrar’’ also said he was in custody.
In Sirte, medics said the defence minister in Gaddafi’s ousted regime, Abu Bakr Yunis, had been killed in the final battle for Sirte.
His body was identified at the field hospital where it was brought in a pick-up truck on Thursday, Dr Abdu Rauf told AFP.

Apparently he was caught lurking in a hole in the ground (like Saddam)
Could we sign him up for the Bails?

Re: Qaddaffi dead/captured?
Looking at the pictures of supposedly his dead corpse, it seems like he was beaten to death.

It would seem so.
I said some time back about a leader turning the guns on "his own" people signing his own death warrant. It wasn't certain that would be carried out until now.
But the bitterness and loathing that such callous, monomaniac betrayal inevitably engenders, means that if there is half a chance for the opposition to catch such a person, I'm afraid it doesn't usually get as far as any court of law, or tribunal.
Poor bugger nonetheless. Just speaking as a human being. Which seems to have been of little consequence to the colonel in his treatment of others for many years.

Re: Qaddaffi dead/captured?
Has 'the Sun' gone too far?
A picture of a dead Gaddafi was accompanied with the headline "That's for Lockerbie"
They then went on- "Revenge is sweet. The architect of Lockerbie, who supplied the IRA with bombs and had London WPC (policewoman) Yvonne Fletcher murdered, died like a rat after being cornered in a drain."
Can't we as a first-world, democratic nation quietly accept that yes, Gaddafi did indeed receive his comeuppance without having to blurt on about "revenge"? It's all very medieval and i've always found the act of metaphorically dancing on someone's grave most uncalled for, no matter how hideous they were when still alive.
After all, if we are 100% legally correct, there seems to be a very strong likelihood that Gaddafi was murdered without trial.

Re: Qaddaffi dead/captured?
Totally agree with you Trev. I wasn't best pleased when I heard such things.
Re: Qaddaffi dead/captured?
Those mongrels that murdered him were no better than Gaddafi in the end. It was supposed to be a revolution of democracy and progression and it's turned out to be 'justice' at the hands of a baying mob. He should have been sent to an international crime court.
Had to have a wry smile though at the filthy rags and news stations who like to take some kind of moral high ground and profess that films and video games are causing irreparable harm. Yet have no qualms in gloating over the death of a real human in cold blood. Nor showing the graphic photographs of it on the front cover of their newspapers and displaying the video on a constant loop!

Bin Laden and Gaddafi in recent months. These things generally go in threes. Who's the next terrorist leader to get it in the throat?
