For a Chinaman, I would expect the fingers wrapped lovingly around the ball, usually around the seam.

Grips between index and middle you'd usually expect (barring tricks, wizardry or flukes) to be heading the other way.

And yes, definitely. Highly intelligent ovine genes though. With a touch of mandolin. And a nice little chianti perhaps.

On those last few:

Correct are 4 and 9.

6: more a function of low-res base pictures (it can be difficult to find pictures of grips) than sheer age. Although these must be 30-35 years old.

Also, wrong continent (and, marginally, skin shade).

19: Curiously perhaps, that IS an older picture. ...

13: No, but you are in exactly the right area, and era.

On your questions:

7: Left-arm yes, but probably not orthodox (although this player was a box of tricks, and you never know ...)

12: Very much so (as the white ball suggests), and still playing. Though not in the most recent round of ODIs.

UPDATE. That leaves eight pictures as yet unidentified (QQ 6, 7, 12, 13, 15, 19, 22, 23). Plus Q26, which will be revealed in due course.

Incidentally .....

Of those eight left, 3 x Aus, 2 x Pak & Eng and 1 x India.

The Aus all "bygone", all the others still alive, and all but one (of the two Pak) more or less active (though I am never sure who has currently "retired" from what ... and these things can sometimes be revoked, it seems. ...)

Hmm, all 3 Aussies remaining are dead. And 6 is from the late 70 and early 80s, so it can't be an Aussie leggie. And 19 is an older picture...

Hmmmm, I am beginning to wonder if I have "bought one" with 19. Perhaps it is just that player's characteristic grip, and not his actual hand? Apologies if so!

I still think it probably is him .... it's very clearly a posed picture, as opposed to a snapshot in play. So a proper camera setup, and a good quality pic would be feasible, even back in the day.

At some point I'd like to post the "visual answers" - pics of the 24 players in bowling action, so that whoever will, can see the various styles for themselves.

In many cases that will be the original pic from which the quiz pic was taken, or else a pic showing each of the grips (or failing that, the "release point" from it).
