Sri Lanka must be the worst non- Bangladeshi test team in the world at the moment.

Someone should tell Vernon Philander test cricket is not always like this...

Jayawardene stuck on 9999 runs.

Will he "do a lardy" & retire now only to come back sometime in the future?
Sit on it a while.
As the Bishop said to the Actress

So Philander is only the third player in history to take four five wicket hauls in his first three test matches. Also takes a ten-for here of course.

It's Jayawardene, not Jayalardene.
So 'no' is my guess.
Which actress was it, incidentally? Marilyn Monroe, not Kathy Bates, I'm hoping.

Meanwhile Philander picks up another Michelle. They must be slappers.

Is he the first cricketer to be run out going for his 10,000th run?
I would ask skully but he only does Celebrity Death Thread Trivia these days.

Fascinating stats they were too. I think some of our members are inflating their stats by picking those minnows on death row, though.

Still waiting for Philander to come across a flat pitch, though. I think it was well known he can do the business in favourable conditions.

Surprised none of the Counties have signed him yet. He'd thrive in early season conditions there, you'd think.
And he's still young enough to qualify for England ...

Somerset have signed him for the first 2 months of the 2012 season assuming he isn't signed by an IPL team.

He's just signed for Somerset hasn't he?
Sri Lanka really are sh!t now though aren't they, not sure whether it's the financial issues or the sudden change in expectations and pressure on everyone else once the player your team was built around for nearly two decades is gone. Maybe a combination of the two. They're heading for genuine minnow status if they don't sort it soon though.

Fair call Trev but he could be useful in England next year if the ball is moving around.

Sri Lanka struggled away from home even in the Murali days, mainly perhaps because its key batsmen don't seem to thrive away from the Sri Lankan roads.
Philander's ball to dismiss Sangakkara was a corker. He does seem to put it in more challenging areas on a regular basis than even Steyn but certainly the erratic Morkel.

Yep, the dream start potentially wont end for a while yet, with a tour to NZ followed by England coming up. Should provide him with helpful conditions.

Presentations were quite amusing.
It was difficult to understand Dilshan because of his accent and how rapidly he was speaking.
Sooky with no trace of humour said that AB's 99 was as good as a ton.
Then Philander spoke even quicker than Dilshan.
