MB, nup, missing the Shield Final that was a lock. The Sandies went from from 1st to 4th over the weekend. Sad. But then again, I guess it spared the Wozzies of being abjectly embarrassed in the Final.
Have you got the number of boxes of unsorted receipts sitting in the corner down to single figures yet?

Shocking season for the Sozzies - with not one win, not even one, that was the worst season a Shield team has had in 20 years, apparently.
Still, they won the Ryobi ODDity, by the narrowest margin imaginable.

Precisely the Viles' problem, Nath. It was lousy.Nath wrote:lousy quotient

More amusingly, it was the missed tie that cost the Vomits.

Never mind the close finish - what about the names? Dear me, commercialisation has made a laughing stock of the States' public status.
At least the "Bulls" have something that sounds like excellent sex. And Tassie have something fairly non-branding, non-ridiculous.
But then the names sort of go from bad to worse as you slide down the table. ~ Hey, maybe that's it. Maybe that explains the relative standings at the end of the season. The crappier the name, the harder it was for any halfway self-respecting team (or player) to hold its/his head up high.

What's worse than having a shit Shield season with no chance of making the Final almost from the start?
Er, that would be leading by 4 points going into the last round and being beaten outright to miss out all together. PMSL @ Woeful Wozzies.![]()
In the sense of the comedown, the dismay, probably.
But in the bigger picture, at least Woz got some wins, and points.
As Lardy suggests, farcical as the final slump in the West (as opposed to the "West End"

Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers
If you bank with them would agree the name is highly appropriate.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12 (II)
THE Warriors have made a formal approach to former Test opener Simon Katich about returning to his home state next season.
Katich, who moved to NSW after falling out with WACA officials a decade ago, is believed to be open to the idea of finishing his career in WA after an enjoyable stint with the Perth Scorchers this summer.
A desire to be closer to his and wife Georgie’s families is understood to be behind the 56-Test veteran’s interest in returning to WA following the birth of his son, Xavier, last year.
Katich is only likely to play one more season before calling time on his decorated career, which also included 45 one-day internationals for Australia.
Recruiting the 36-year-old would go against the youth policy the Warriors have tried to implement in recent seasons, but coach Lachlan Stevens said age was not a factor in this particular instance.
Blues rejects rule
“Simon’s not about a youth policy, it’s about a guy with a great deal of experience and it’s not just what he brings on the field, but what he might bring off the field,” Stevens said.
“We got a really good glimpse of that during the Scorchers’ campaign as well, so we know the quality he brings.
“It’s not about his age, but about what he brings to the group as whole.”
The Warriors have also made approaches to reserve NSW wicketkeeper Peter Nevill and Tasmanian youngster Tom Triffitt as they begin their search for Luke Ronchi’s replacement.
However, talks have been put on hold because of the negotiations between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association over player contracts.
Negotiations between both parties reached a stalemate last year and the previous agreement was extended for another season.
State teams usually wait until after Cricket Australia’s list of contracted players is released before finalising their own playing squad.
Stevens flagged several changes to his playing squad next season as he looks to take the Warriors one step further after they narrowly missed out on a spot in this week’s Sheffield Shield final.
“Over time, your management of it has to change from year to year and there will be a few adjustments to our squad in the next 12 months,” he said.
“And that’s important. I think the list management here was a little adrift here a few years ago and we lost our way in terms of the structure of that, so that needs to be fixed over a period of time.
“We started that last year and we’ll continue that this year.”

Johnson Whiteman and Bancroft would be pissed about the approach to Nifty (Triffit rang the WACA asking if there was a place) ...Cant see a spot for Katich if they want to develop youth (unless they piss off Voges or North ...or bog suddenly remembers how to be a Test class batsman) )

Triffitt would be a huge catch for the Wozzies but i reckon Tassie will be desperate to hang on to him.

But it could make Triffitt's day.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12 (II)
a fantastic season reaching its climax...Fox have relented and are now showing the final...
Toxics must be favourites for this...the banjos have been strummin' without strings since xmas..
of the rest...bad luck to the retros who struck a white hot Toxics crew with zelman, tweetie and some bloke called ponting in rip roaring form
Vix did well to get back into contention - missing many players due to injury or national selection...they have unearthed some decent players in Maxwell, Hanscomb, Herrick
jellies were woeful....recruiting Stevie Nix won't help
the spivs have fallen apart...maybe there is a toxic culture with fleas at the centre - who knows?...by reputation they shd have led the comp...instead they beat only the dissolved puddle that is Jelly cricket...a clean out starting with the coaches appears inevitable

the best 4 day, ODD and T20 squads were interesting - the dubbers will be filthy with only Nifty (4 day) and Koo (ODD) representing the spivs

Maddinson needs to move states, fuse needs a technique, fleas is to be booted, uber koala needs to find and give Henry a clip for mudging him up, bollybogan needs to retire to take up full time duties at a KFC counter, O'Keefe needs to rediscover his talent. Nifty needs Haddit to retire, Horrors and Nix should retire

maddinson is the one with some real talent...he would benefit from a season or two in a positive team oriented culture...maybe Qld as Boof seems to have instilled a very positive selfless attitude in that team

So even though a Sydney team won the T20 there were no Sydney players in the team of the year?

Such is the indifferent nature of T20. T20 is a lottery & the best team doesnt always win on the day.
