The Test
I watched the 1st season (Ashes 2019 - post the SAf ball-tampering debacle) of this a while back and have not long downloaded seasons 2 and 3.
Once you get watching it's impossible to stop. I'm into season 3 now, and it's Ashes 2022 in England. Haven't got to the Bairstow incident yet but have been doing a litle Google research along the way.
Late on Day 5 in the 1st Test at Edgbaston the camera was on Labia and Blowie as 2nd and Elmer neared victory during their epic 50+ 9th wicket stand, and Marnus was say "c'mon [something]" referring to Pat Cummins. Turns out he was saying "c'mon Cider".
Again Google came to the rescue. Some wag christened him with this early in his Test career. "Cider" as in Cum-in-cider.
Oh dear.

Re: The Test
Wow, all the little things you can forget in the midst of controversy.
The 2nd Test at Lords on 2022 Ashes was such a rollercoaster. There was Smudge's brilliant ton and Elmer's gutsy decision to bat with a badly torn calf (he added a valuable 15 for the last wicket with Koo to help set England 370 to win). The gutting emotion that came for Lyon after that injury - he was totally devastated and inconsolable.
But the two incidents that summed up the ball-tearing hypocrisy of the English crowd during the latter part of the Test, of England supporters and of the English media happened late on Day 4 and then on Day 5.
The two incidents were Koo catching Duckett at deep fine leg late on Day 4 (given not out after review due to Starc grounding the ball in his hand after a fairly completed catch) and the infamous Bairstow incident on Day 5 when he wandered out of his crease and was stumped from afar by Alex Carey.
Starc had to conceded that while he felt it was clearly a fair catch, by the letter of the law, because he had slide the ball on the ground in his hand, it was given not out (i.e. he did not have control of the disposal of the ball after the catch).
Then came the Bairstow incident, where before the ball was dead he wandered from his crease and Carey (at the earlier urging of captain Cummins) threw the wicket down to stump the English keeper.
The 1st incident's decision had the full support of the English crowd, public and media. But the 2nd was totally rejected as against the spirit of the game. What a pack of gormless hypocrites Poms are.
Yet both were clearly given the correct decision under the Laws of the Game.
To emphasise the bullshit behaviour of the crowd during the Bairstow incident was the stunning difference between the loud and apparently* genuine ovation given to the injured Lyon on his bravery to come out to bat with Starc at the end of the Aus 2nd innings, then the howling bile spewing that went on at the Aussies post the Bairstow incident.
Poms - no wonder Aussies love to hate 'em.

Re: The Test
The English behaviour was atrocious throughout the Tour.
If low rent players like Stokes and Bunter rock up I’m really looking forward to them and the Smarmy Army copping it at the grounds and wherever they stay.
Happily we are witnessing the dying days of the Empah and the criminals who run the Royals and Government.

Oh dear indeed!
Horrie can sometimes do a pork chop impersonation that makes Max Gillies' Hawke look like Fraser, and I am not quite as out-con-rage-vinced about the Starc catch/non-catch as many, but on the Bairstow rigmarole and the Brits' self-righteous whining and actor-specific moralising that followed (and still follows) it, I am in complete agreement with him.

Re: The Test
"Our take" has "morale victory" written all over it.
England cricket wikipedia history (yes, yes, I know that means fark all) 2015-2024 will have "won nothing but achieve heaps of morale victories" written all through it.
