I've never put too much faith in them but they are utterly farcical. Brazil at 11? Italy at 6th, 2 places behind ENGLAND?!?!

We only got to the second round of the world cup and quarter finals of the Euros. I don't think we have lost a competitive match since Germany in 2010 though which is probably what gives us a ranking that high, but it still does seem ridiculous and I certainly wouldn't say there are only 3 teams better than us.

Van Persie shocks almost no-one by announcing he's not going to sign a new contract at L'Arsenal.

I think they'll keep him for a season and let him run his contract down. No-one out there has got enough wonga to make them an offer they can't refuse - and reinvest in a striker of comparable quality - apart from City (but surely they can't keep giving them their best players whilst simultaneously trying to catch them up).

Might as well get some use out of him and see where they and he are at at the end of next season. He only cost about £2 million. It's not like they'd take a massive hit if he left on a free. Due to his age and contract length, his market value is relatively low anyway.

The new signings are reasonably good but realistically I'd be happy with a Champions League spot - we don't have enough to win the league.
