Boxing Day
Apparently, when South Africa tours Australia, and get to play in the MCG Boxing Day Test, they get a better financial deal than just about any other country. It seems there's 'compensation' to the yarpies for missing their home Boxing Day Test.
Given that Tests in South Africa are often attended by crowds that could fit in a broom closet, this is a bit rich.

Re: Boxing Day
Is this upcoming series the first time in the last 30 years that the touring team's board, and not channel nine, have dictated the playing schedule?

Possibly. The schedule they set doesn't seem to have helped them much.
But the return of Adelaide's Test to the Oz Day weekend is a good thing. If only they'd bitten the bullet and pissed off the MODI tri-series this year.

Re: Boxing Day
Yep. To be replaced by 5-game ODI series, I believe?

Re: Boxing Day
It means far fewer ODIs in the summer, and possibly the potential for six or seven Tests if we get really lucky.
Although the rality is that there will be more t20 bullshit wedged in.

Re: Boxing Day
If we have 2 test series we play 3 ODIs against each team. If it's just the poms we play 5 ODIs (plus the tosspot-wanker in both cases, of course) . . . .

Re: Boxing Day
On reflection, I think the tosspot series is being expanded to five matches each season as well. Given that the kiwis are only competitive once every three or four years, I can't really see the point.

pretty sure the number of T20 games allowed in one season is capped.

I thought that was only for next year. (as a compromise or something for the following year?)

Who knows, Nath? It just means more MODI matches.

Re: Boxing Day
It's good to see the 'bastard-wanker' and variant 'tosspot-wanker' sobriquets being tossed around so freely to describe this mindless annual beanfest. Wide willy was banned for this on C4 ... by that left-handed wriggler, C4 Ed.

The next series will be the last time SA tours Aus over this period.

Really? Well, given that they choke worse than someone with a peanut allergy suffering anaphalaxyis, that's no big problem.taipan wrote:The next series will be the last time SA tours Aus over this period.
