Boxing FFS
Watching the hopeless freak show that is Evander Holyfield's attempt to become at 46 the oldest man to regain a Heavyweight World Boxing title as he attempts to take the WBA belt from the ponderous, overweight out of shape 7 foot Nikolai Valuev.
Into the 4th round and neither of them have thrown a punch in anger yet, particularly the Herman Munster like Valuev.
Ridiculous spectacle.
Valuev is just standing in the middle of the ring, towering over the seemingly diminutive Holyfield who is doing nothing other than dance around him and occasionally coming inside for the scoring shots.
All 4 rounds to Holyfield methinks. Looks like he's going to regain the title.

I don't believe it.
Valuev wins it on a majority decision whilst barely throwing a punch.
Dreadful fight but Holyfield clearly won it.
Unbelievable. Worst decision since Lewis failed to get the decision against Holyfield in their first bout.
FFS. Appalling stuff.
Dismal night for boxing.

Fu*king travesty, and although Americans get a lot of stick for not fighting abroad you can see why with decisions like this.
Crap fight though.

Anyone that saw the Froch Pascal fight recently can see it can be as brilliant as Test Cricket. So 'phurt'.

Re: Boxing FFS
That was the best fight I've seen for years. Having said that I don't think Froch will be able to beat the likes of Hopkins, Kessler, Calzaghe etc.spangler wrote:lardbucket wrote:meh ... the perfect 'sport' for those unable to understand 20-20.

Re: Boxing FFS
Aye - was absolutely brilliant.
Froch has got to step up to that sort of level if he wants to really make his mark on the sport.
I'd like to see him take on Kessler next. I'm not sure he can live in that company but there's no point in him dying wondering, and at least it might shut him up a bit and teach him a little bit of humility if he does lose.

THat c*nt better get beaten one day. Too much of a pussy to take on Pacquio though, despite Manny looking pretty tame in his last couple of fights.

Re: Boxing FFS
Also fair play to Cotto. Absolute beast, beating the cheating Margarito is probably the best thing to happen to the sport in the last 10 years.

Thought this was a thread about Haye and Chisora. They should fight under WWE rules with as many blunt metal instruments as they like...
But yeah, Boxing FFS. Even though we'll all end up watching this fight if it happens...

Re: Boxing FFS
I will do. It's been the ugliest affair I've ever seen in boxing. I basically now hate them both heavily. Yet the car crash slugfest will be one to watch.
In other news for 'Boxing FFS', Lamont Peterson has failed a drug test, Khan has called him a 'cheat' and is getting the belts back... shame because I wanted him to unequivocally beat him after the robbery of the last bout.

Re: Boxing FFS
He won't get the belts back. American sport doesn't give two shits about drug cheats. I remember MLB reacting to all the doping revelations a few years back by setting out really stringent rules that amounted to about 30 days suspension for a third offence.
He'll keep the belts, serve a couple of months, and then back on it.

Have Indian cricketers been watching old Tyson fights?

Paquiao loses to Bradley on split decision.
Did anyone here watch it? The reports describe is as "controversial".

Robbery. There have been some awful decisions of recent times, but this one took the biscuit. It took the whole packet. Pac's straight left alone probably won him the fight I don't know what goes on anymore.

Was it as bad as Maccarinelli Vs. McPhilbin. Some of the most blatant cheating I've ever seen in boxing. Among other nonsense they rang the bell with 47 seconds left of the first round after Maccarinelli was knocked down.

Re: Boxing FFS
There was no foul play - just an awful decision. Bradley was totally outboxed and didn't have the strength to even compete.
Re: Boxing FFS
Pacquiao 253 punches to Bradley's 159
Pacquiao 63-51 on jabs and 190! - 108 on power punches.
Compubox can be a load of old shit as it's essentially two men sat there pressing a button for each punch but it shouldn't be getting it this far out of whack.
Juan Manuel Marquez is having a good old chuckle though.

very bad decision but Paquio took it well
Bradley wasn't satisfied either and has asked for a rematch.

I watched this one because i was at a friend's house. In general following/watching boxing is some what immoral.
