OK - I'll bite...
None of the above is anywhere near the level of waste/ incompetence/ complicity/ arrogance of the last government taking Australia into Iraq and Afghanistan.

Failures of Current Pinko Govt.:
Insulation scheme - CSIRO report shows it was a good thing
BER - 3 separate reports show it was a good thing
NBN - likely to be a good thing. The most vocal opposition is from old school media who stand to be the biggest losers.
Carbon Tax - good thing. Certainly not the wrecking ball that the Libs were claiming. Electricity consumption is down.
GP Super Clinics - no comment
Kevin Rudd's stimulus payments - a good thing.
Set top boxes - can't recall this one.
Mining Tax - good idea, poorly implemented but it was the best that could be done in the current parliament.
Boatpeople:
- Rising number of boat arrivals - so what?
- Malaysian Solution - High Court challenge - unfortunate
- Riots at Villawood/Christmas Island - hardly the government's fault
Live cattle trade suspended - well intentioned, could have been handled better
Laptops for students - what's the issue with this?
Peter Slipper scandal - Slipper was elected as a Liberal.
Craig Thomson investigation - ongoing. A bad look but little to do with government policy.
Deal with Independents (Oakeshott, Windsor) - what's the issue with this.
Kevin Rudd axed - faceless men/Labor infighting - poorly handled and explained
Greens influence/power - they hold the balance of power. What do you expect?
Poker Machine reforms - they lost their nerve. Of course, if the Libs had agreed to it it would have happened.
AWU - Gillard scandal - old news.
Tony Hodges - Australia Day riot - unfortunate
Cash for Clunkers - didn't even go ahead.
Dental scheme axed - great policy
Murray Darling Basin Plan - difficult issue on all sides.
Selling land to foreign owners - if they pay the best price who is the government to stand in the way of a commercial transaction
Defence budget cuts - good.
Car industry bailouts - not good but every govt in history has done it.
Grocery price watch - failure but minor
Fuel Watch - failure but minor
None of the above is anywhere near the level of waste/ incompetence/ complicity/ arrogance of the last government taking Australia into Iraq and Afghanistan.

Phurt. Says you (and no facts supplied as always), who I rarely believe on matters Political, given your communist background. A $50B surplus when they left office says the Libs shit all over the Pinkos in fiscal management. They'd still be there only for the ridiculous Workchoices debacle.

Err.. spending is less now than under Howard. So it's revenue that has fallen off a cliff. Hard to see what Cossie could have done about that.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
INFLATION is running faster than expected with the government's carbon tax helping to boost the price of Australian consumer goods and services by 2 per cent in the year to September.
This strong rise in prices is expected to weigh on the Reserve Bank's decision next month on whether to cut rates again.
The central bank will ignore much of the rise as this is the first set of inflation data released since the introduction of the federal government's carbon tax on July 1.
But underlying inflation - the key marker for the RBA - came in at 2.4 per cent on an annual basis, sparking a sharp rise in the Australian dollar as investors scaled back their betting on a rate cut on Melbourne Cup day.
Another 25 point cut next month is still the most likely outcome but the higher than expected inflation reading from the Australian Bureau of Statistics may give the RBA reason to pause, economists said.
The RBA has a target range for annual inflation of 2-3 per cent, so it may still have room to lower the cash rate but the futures market showed the likelihood of a rate cut slipped from a 95 per cent possibility to a 75 per cent chance after the data was released.
Electricity prices, medical services and international travel were the most significant price rises in the September quarter with the consumer price index, the key measure of inflation, jumping 1.4 per cent.
This was up from an 0.5 per cent reading in the June quarter.
The CPI was expected to rise by 1.1 per cent in the September quarter for an annual rate of 1.7 per cent, according to an AAP survey of 15 economists.
The biggest rise in prices was in Sydney followed by Adelaide, Darwin, and Melbourne.
The cash rate is currently at 3.25 per cent following the RBA's decision to cut by a quarter per cent in October.

Perhaps Zimmy can adjust the graphs he was spewing out with his relative posting diarrhoea last night. He seems to think they are important.

Indeed. MrK's little Red Book.
Meanwhile the Cops raid Thomson home and Electoral Office for evidence. His dickhead lawyer was on the wireless going on like a goog about the media presence. Mrs Thomson scarpered and ran over some camera equipment. Oops.
