Henry wrote:Even with the current rates (3.25%), inflation in Aus is only 1.3%. The high Australian dollar has a lot to do with the low inflation, and interest rate cuts only seem to have a brief impact on the dollar, before investors remember how f*cked up the rest of the World is and continue to pile money into the Aussie.
That is my point, what the pensioners are losing on the roundabouts.....

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
An interesting take on the Goose's voodoo economics
"Labor's budget surplus comes at great detriment to the economy.
...
No information is given. We the taxpayers provide the money for this, but are kept in the dark about where and why $3 billion of planned spending suddenly will no longer happen. These unexplained spending cuts are the reason why the battered 2012-13 budget is still expected to end up in surplus.
It typifies the murky, spin-driven way in which governments now present the nation's accounts - and allow economic decisions to be driven by political imperatives rather than economic ones.
Few economists agree. Australia's finances are OK, but outside mining, its economy is weak. Non-mining business investment is at the lowest share of GDP for 40 years. More and more shops are empty. Mining export prices have fallen, yet the dollar remains crushingly high. The job market has weakened.
-------------------------------------------
The Goose is bluffing his way through this on the back of the massive surplus he inherited. What a smirking imposter.

Aye, but the battling pinkos in here are all on good money, so cost-of-living is of no consequence to them. But wait for them to crow if the Goose achieves the sliver of a surplus he is so desperate to get.

Cost of living in Australia isn't high if you are earning Australian dollars.

Did Tony Abbott really say that "Labor lacks experience in raising families"?

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
This is what he said in response to the Goose's "extra cash was not needed because a cot and pram bought for a first child did not have to be bought again for subsequent children."
Abbott - "I think if the Government was a bit more experienced in this area, they wouldn't come out with glib lines like that."
Naturally the Vulture will attempt to claim that Abbott was saying as a childless bint, she has no clue as a mother. Abbott has apologised if she thought that's what he meant - which he claims he didn't.

Oh dear. Gimme a "V", gimme a "U"...
Feel free to play the misogynist line, Ponts - it's become very banal and unimaginative, much like the Pinkos. You tell me what you take from Abbott's actual words. I am interested.

So what's your salary as the Pinkos new spin doctor? Enjoy the role while it lasts.
No thoughts on the Goose's quest for a surplus? Other policy discussion? Krudd and Combet just last week said "For God's Sake, let's move on from this misogyny debate and talk about policy."

It's a FACT that Gillard doesn't have kids and isn't married. Was she biologically unable to have kids? Or she just chose not to? If it's the former, then Abbott should apologise. Still doesn't change the FACT that Gillard doesn't have experience of raising a family.

Aye, if you are relying on the Baby Bonus you shouldn't be having kids in the first place.
Still it is hardly fair on all those Campbelltown tattoo parlours

2/3 of the population didn't go to university.
No experience whatsoever.
Why should they have an opinion on tertiary education.

I don't have kids, but it seems that absolutely anything that is said against this Government by the Coalition is now twisted and manipulated and spun by Labor as a personal attack on Julia Gillard.
Any my opinion is one vote. Gillard's opinion is national policy. Bit of a difference (unfortunately)

The NBN is too far down the track. No way the Coalition would scrap it now. And nor should they.
