WACA Hit-Out for Warriors Squad
9 September 2012
The Warriors continued preparations for the start of the 2012-13 domestic cricket season with a 40-overs-per-side intra-squad match at the WACA Ground today.
A team led by Nathan Coulter-Nile made 9-195 from their 40 overs. Sam Whiteman struck 44 from 57 deliveries and Cameron Bancroft hit 42 as the young wicket-keepers shared in a 91-run opening stand.
Opposing skipper Nathan Rimmington picked up 2-32 from nine overs to be the pick of the bowlers, left-arm quick Jason Benhrendorff took 2-55, while Joel Paris, Michael Hogan and Michael Beer each claimed a wicket.
Rimmington's side won by four wickets with four overs to spare on the back of sparkling contributions from Liam Davis (74 from 73) and Tom Beaton (72 from 88).
Ryan Duffield staked his claims for a call-up to the RYOBI Cup side by snaring 3-49, while Matt Dixon and ex-New South Wales products Burt Cockley and Tim Armstrong took one wicket each.
The first two overs of the match were umpired by George Burgum. George, who suffers from cerebral palsy, has been a long-time WA Cricket Umpires Association member, attends every interstate and international cricket fixture in Perth, and is well known by players and officials from all over the world.
Officiating at the WACA Ground fufilled a lifelong dream for George, and several of his WACUA friends and colleagues were in attendance this morning to show their support.
The Warriors will play another intra-squad match at the WACA Ground tomorrow ahead of their RYOBI One-Day Cup opener against the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues next Sunday.

Aye, I may withdraw my support for the Hawks ... even though I've only been supporting them for 48 hours
it was only 'beer goggles consolation' support anyway ...

shrugs - you can't win 'em all, and we were lucky to have won at all ... I waited 44 years for 2007 (OK, 42, because I didn't really start following them until 1965).

Oh God, another season of Reeks mediocrity with the very odd brilliant performance.
Hopefully Maddinson starts living up to his potential. Or has he been Trevved?

And are we gonna use this thread for all Aus domestic, or do we start a separate Sheffield Shield 12/13 thread?

Only two of the Vomits did'nt bowl & one of those was the keeper
Re: Australia Domestic Season 2012/13
I was at the 77 GF replay as a teenager. One of the best days of my life. I was on the fence in the corner that John Bailey scored the penalty try. Even better, I was there with 2 Eels supporters.brockley wrote:Yeh been a saints fan since the '77 gf.Just can't watch games they not in.

I would recommend an old thread, but it's been locked by some Dellorean Fuhrer
