Re: The i-Gen thread
As a couple of colleagues in here know, I've finally succumbed to the scourge of Facebook. In my defence, it's not so I can attention whore for likes or post photos of my cat, but to use the Facebook Messenger facility for calling people overseas for "free" (when I am OS visiting the youngest sprog).
This post is a pre-emptive defensive effort on my part. Please forgive me, all.

Have to say, when embee and Zat alerted me to this, it gave me my best laugh all year.

I had a brief flirtation with facebook but it just got too confusing. I did'nt have a clue who half the people were that were sending me stuff so i just wiped it.

I have had Facebook for years. Maybe open it every 3 months if I remember. Certain members here will confirm that with my late acknowledgements of birthday wishes.

Re: The i-Gen thread
I don't think I'll be logging onto Facebook at all (other than to use the Messenger function), but I'm amazed how I have been bombarded with Friends requests since my youngest set up an account for me. How the fark does that happen??? Do I blame Zat?

Ah, I see. Choyers, Mr bucket. I guess it allows me to keep up with the social shenanigans of a few far flung mates and family.

Re: The i-Gen thread
Use messaging and groups. Avoid posting on the wall. Report all game invitations as 'spam' immediately and you will never see them again.
I use it to message and be messaged by my two lads and to keep in contact with 3-4 specific groups of people ... my cricket club, some juniors in my workplace, and a couple of groups who share my musical interests and who I play with occasionally. These groups work well.

Good advice and spot on regarding my intended approach. Have been messaging with an old work colleague who sent me a friend request this arvo. No wall posting for me.
