BTW I don't actually know the answer to Question 2 as I can't recall any batsman not walking in those circumstances.

Q2. Prior to the incident in Q1, who was the last batsman to not walk when he edged a legitimate delivery to a slips fieldsman when there was no question about whether the ball had carried?
Is this a catch edged to a slips fieldsman that came off the keeper's gloves?

I know one of the commentators originally thought it might have clipped Haddin's glove but actually the ball went straight from the bat into Clarke's hands. This video isn't as clear as some of the vision shown last night but it is obvious from the fine leg angle that Haddin didn't touch it.

Actually that does suggest there is no deflection from the different available angles

In the recent Test at Lords, all 4 openers were out lbw in the 1st innings. This has only happened once before in Test cricket. When? This one may need clues.
All 4 openers out lbw in 1st innings (of each side) in a Test:
?
Eng v Aus, Lord's, 2013
AN Cook and JE Root
SR Watson and CJL Rogers

The Jo'burg instance is also the most opener lbw dismissals lbw in a Test at 6.

Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
Ah. Cheers.
OK, try this.
In the 1st Test at Trent Bridge, 11th man Agar joined Hughes when Aus was still 99 runs in arrears in the 1st innings. This represents the highest ever deficit faced by the last pair, who then took their side to a lead. There have been only 2 other instances where the last 2 came together in the second innings of the match (that team's 1st innings) with a deficit of more than 30 and managed a 10th wicket stand that gave their side a lead.
Can you name those 2 instances?
Largest deficits when 10th wicket stand gave side batting 2nd the lead in the match:
99 Eng (215) v Aus (117-9 to 280ao), Nottingham, 2013 - PJ Hughes 81*/AC Agar 98

Statsguru's being a qunt, so can only guess- Vaas and Murali had a big partnership in the Warne Murali 500 series, maybe that?
Remember that the previous 10th wicket record tied the score on 402.

Yeah, the Hastings/Collinge former 10th wicket record did bring the 1st innings scores level from a 151 deficit.
Neither of the instances I'm after involve Sri Lanka.
As a clue, both partnerships put on in excess of 50.

This is an AD Search and Destroy special. So I'm looking for a 10th wicket partnership that exceeded 50, that took the side from a >49 run deficit to a lead on the 1st innings. Shouldn't be that hard to find.

So no-one wants to sift through the fairly small number of 50+ 10th wicket partnerships looking for the final answer?

Well done, t. Except it was Strudwick not Buckenham.

Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
Did Buckenham get nix?
Anyway, let's talk about Herbert Strudwick. Considered to be one of the most outstanding wicketkeepers to have played the game. Averaged 7.93 with the bat in 28 tests & 10.88 in 674 FC matches. Probably wouldn't have played first class cricket if he was around today. Sad.
