Good research, Trike, and correct (on O).
I doubt there will be many more guesses on P, and of course you are bang on the right lines.
Long-suffering wife: "Heavens, you mean there are TWO MORE?"
Some things don't change much. Since 1926 there are running radio, TV and internet commentaries, as opposed to newspaper reports a day or two later, but the 'gender strain' is still often there. Perhaps worse!

I wouldn't ask a question like that. It's what stats pages are for:WideWally wrote:I am waiting for you to ask what famous events occurred in the game featured in "Q"?
I assume one of them is in the process of happening in the photo.
http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/18/18297.html < "Rogers" (Rex, in this case) makes clear it is not the Test of a few days later, ... but as Wally hints, the match was important for The Don's career.

For once miles out. The tache/hair combination is right, but remember Sammy was a keeper, and rather shorter.WideWally wrote:M.
I'm probably miles out with this but is (1) Hanson Carter?
This one is a Pom from The Golden Age, the lesser of the elegant brothers playing-wise (he didn't play a Test), who here is back in a different role. The rest of the players in the party should point you to who it might be - in other words, the question is a deduction exercise based on what you see, and can work out. It's not Pelham Warner though (aka "Ladyboy" (Merlin), but his Oxford college buddy, co-opted by Warner as his financially more savvy counterpart.)
So K, L, M and N still up for grabs. Clues can be provided if required.

M. One of the Gaudant brothers? The one who played with Pellham at Oxford and was a member of the London stock exchange. That's as best as I can do after many hours over two days whilst Nurse Ratched wasn't around. Looks like Jardine next to him.

Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
Nurse Ratched?? Isn't that the famed "Angel of Satan" that keeps trying to get Horrie on his own??
Anyway, it's not him. It's one of the amateur cricketing brothers Fry admired from their Oxford days, who happened to go to Oriel College (same as the ever-sanctimonious Plum - the distinguished Lancashire gentleman in question was Warner's hand-picked financial assistant and associate in the bid to quell Bradman that emerged as 'Bodyline'). He was also btw the bright chap who proposed the reviving sips of champagne to the team at Brisbane.
You can work it out from this:
And this:
Of course it was not really a question about the individual, but an invitation to identify "Which tour?" and then deduce who the "handler" must be.
As I put in the quiz question, you can also guess who the various players are. You can now them work them out from the picture, and caption as needed.
Personally, I think it's amazing how old and unfit the players look - beyond their years, in modern nutritional and healthcare terms. But part of the fuddy-duddiness is of course the "grandad" clothing. They could certainly play (see Paynter at Brisbane! - and Hammond's and Leyland's many hundreds.)

You can work it out from this:
And this:
- Squad IDs:
- The MCC squad for the 1932-33 tour of Australia and New Zealand. Back: George Duckworth, Tommy Mitchell, The Nawab of Pataudi, Maurice Leyland, Harold Larwood, Eddie Paynter, Bill Ferguson (scorer). Middle: Plum Warner (manager), Les Ames , Hedley Verity, Bill Voce, Bill Bowes, Freddie Brown, Maurice Tate, Dick Palairet (assistant manager). Front: Herbert Sutcliffe, Bob Wyatt, Douglas Jardine (captain), Gubby Allen, Wally Hammond.

The simpler K, L and N still up for grabs.
K - no relation of Rahul Dravid's, despite the name. Bowler.
L - not as funny (especially for Aussies) as Larry David
You can also find him in the picture above (previous post)!
N - after a 10 year break, ...

T. Who's this?
This is easy if you use the standard quoting trick!

Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
Yep - all of those correct!
It is indeed Larwood, built-up bouffant hair and all. Maybe he wanted to look taller (he wasn't a strapping figure, more tensile strength and muscle - Jardine called him "you little bugger" after he'd nearly scored a century from nightwatchman, though this is perhaps not so much a comment on his height ...).
S. Imran Khan, Alan Knott (just to fill in the other details)
Grand final Supertest, Sydney, Australia v Rest of the World, 4th February 1979.
Swashbuckling stuff.

Just to tidy up this orphan.
The clue was: "After 10 years ..."PeterCS wrote:N. Name the year.
- And the answer is:
- 1948. If you look carefully (in the middle of the picture) there is a significant signature. Tom Webster's is further up. ~ Despite the 'Victory Tests' of 1945 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_Tests (which were England v "Aus Combined Services") - the return of official, "proper" Ashes cricket to Pomerania for the first time since 1938.

Very good. I tried to work it out from the scorecard of the 1895 varsity match, and hoped that you were talking about college buddy generically.PeterCS wrote:Nurse Ratched?? Isn't that the famed "Angel of Satan" that keeps trying to get Horrie on his own??

A looks like a most Ashes runs list but there are too many anomalies to do that. Perhaps it's most Ashes runs in Australia? Or maybe most tons in Aust.
Either way, it does feel like Hammond is a name that should be in this sort of company.

Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
Well, what I have here is:
Most hundreds
DG Bradman (Aus) 19
JB Hobbs (Eng) 12
SR Waugh (Aus) 10
WR Hammond (Eng) 9
DI Gower (Eng) 9
AR Morris (Aus) 8
H Sutcliffe (Eng) 8
GS Chappell (Aus) 8
RT Ponting (Aus) 8
Others: 7 or less (fewer, if you prefer)
I suppose I should have introduced an "=" which is not in the sources I used, but otherwise the figures seem to be right.
Highest batting averages (Ashes):
Don Bradman 89.79
Herbert Sutcliffe 66.85
Ken Barrington 63.97
Michael Hussey 59.27
Steve Waugh 58.18
Maurice Leyland 56.83
Len Hutton 56.47
Allan Border 56.32
Jack Hobbs 54.27
Wally Hammond 51.85
AH! but what that source doesn't say is that those figures are based on 20 innings minimum.
So, thanks to SKY's infallible figures (aka Wrong and Skimpy), it's back to the drawing board for me.
Or rather, back to the PICTURE board, .....
