Re: bushfire and weather thread
We could do with some of the predicted rain here in Sydney.
My backyard is dry as a Nun's nasty.

Shut up. We're renovating at the moment. The builder is flying through it so far.

Rarely hear Shortpants nowadays. Blessed be the holy mute button on the remote. Apply the same rule to the Laughing clown, Mr Potato Head and Pope Andrews.
Unhappily I am gripped with paralysis when Erics Anazi is on the telly or wireless. He is as riveting as a train wreck, but even more frightening. He clearly is opposed to the will of the majority and wants the tyranny of the religious minority to continue.

Re: bushfire and weather thread
We are on bushfire alert in Black Rock, just 18 clicks from the cbd.
Black Rock is on the bay and the house is two blocks from the beach.
The fire is in an urban bush park where I played as a kid. My old primary school and Cheltenham Golf course where I learned to play the great game (badly) are at risk. The grand old Victoria Golf Course is at risk too as are a number of houses in this burb that is fond of eucalypts, bottle brush and fea tree.
Long odds this house will be at risk.

Re: bushfire and weather thread
Just realised a small cricket ground where, a hundred years ago it seems I lucked my way to my first fitty will be toast.

Aye, it's too hot to do anything but watch the cricket.
I pulled out a few weeds early on, but now I just need to lie down and veg in front of the box.

Filthy hot in Melbourne with high humidity. Overnight minimum will be around 28. Pouring liquid into my mother, who forgets to hydrate.
No need to garden here. Even the weeds are giving up the ghost. Alternating between tennis and the jamodi. Neither are inspiring interest.
Oh well could be beer o'clock time.

Oui, it will be stifling. The women struggling a bit with the lower heat last night.
Today feels like living in a furnace. We're not used to heat and humidity.
Many houses have lost power and rail lines have shut down.
At least we have water though. Saw a piece on the ABC this morning about CT and its biggest drought in over a century. They are predicted to run out of water by April and restrictions are being applied.

Re: bushfire and weather thread
Some much needed decent rain in the Knee of Syd over the past 24 hours.
My neck of the woods (upper North Shore) scored over 70 mm. The catchments seemed to get something similar.
