Adelaide, Sydney and Newcastle
Can any of you Aussies on the boards give me some ideas on where I should go for a decent night out in any of Adelaide, Sydney or Newcastle.
I'm on a cricket tour for 3 weeks and fancied a bit of advice on where we can go for a decent night out, that isn't going to be full of manky travellers, especially in Sydney!

Helpful bastard aren't you, JGK ...
Charlie, if you must go to Adelaide, just crawl down Rundle Mall and you will find something to take your fancy. And despite what JGK says, no place full of young ladies in summer clothes is all bad. Take a tram down to Glenelg to catch the local 'sights' over a quiet ale or three, and a day down the MacLaren Vales would not be wasted (far easier to access than the more internationally known Barossa Valley). There's a good Bradman Museum in Adelaide, and there's always Copper's Pale Ale. Warning: don't drink the other local beers ... they're shite.

Cheers Lardy. We're in Adelaide for 4 days and have 3 games one against Kensington and a couple of others. Then off to Barossa, Clare and Hay for games in the country, then up to NSW.
I shall have a a very good sample of the Copper's Pale Ale.

Sorry for the typo, that's Cooper's ...
So you'll venture across the Hay plain ... sheesh, what a drab moonscape that is. One of the few bits of land I've been on where you can appreciate the curvature of the earth.

Indeed, we have a game out there. And get billetted out to the locals for a day and a bit. So god knows what we'll end up doing.
Also get to take in the Clare festival or something, and a game on coconut matting in Barossa as well.
Any other suggestions?

Crikey. I was down in Bude a few weeks back, and was dragged about Launceston and Barnstable shopping. Not too bad in the grand scheme of things Lardy. Big fan of Bude though. Always have been.

WE do 2 day/nighters in Sharjah against Emirate XI's. Then to Adelaide, Barrossa, CVlare and Hay.
Then up to Sydney to play all the big clubs up there, like the Uni, and the Waugh brothers club (unless they are the same?) We've got 8 games in Sydney and our stay in Sydney is split with 4 days in Newcastle.
We're staying in the World Tower or something in Sydney???
Highlight of my tour will be the Cat cruise on the harbour on Australia Day!!

Make sure you bring sun screen for the Cat cruise.
Also, it seems you will be in town for the Police concert on 24 Jan.

Concert is at the Olympic Stadium - pretty easy to get to.
You would need to get scalped tickets but as the Barmy Army keeps on reminding us, you get 3 dollars, to the pound....

Concert is at night so you might be able t get there in time.
Looks like a great trip. Shame you aren't playing Mosman (Brett Lee's club) whose oval is about 400m away from me.
What sort of standard teams/grades are you playing?

Probably all first grade stuff I expect, or as many as they can get out on the week days. Its organised in conjunction with Australian Old Collegiates I think, and the ECB and CA. So will be pretty decent stuff I expect. I'm assuming most of those sides a A grade????
I'll see what I can organise and see if we can hit the Police concert, as thats one we shouldn't miss.

They are all grade clubs so you could be playing first grade (and possibly state) players I guess. But the problem might be midweek games as most first graders will probably work.

Yeah, I think they tend to but out sort of half and half First/Second graders, and the odd state player.
I know in a previous tour Warne played. I also know that the Waughs have played before, and the non-famous brother who plays over here will be playing. So it'll be a decent standard. hasm to be with the ECB chucking a miniscual amount of cash into it!

There might be a Big Day Out concert while you're here, Charlie. Again, tickets might be difficult to obtain, but not impossible.

Watch out for the Road Warriors. They're nasty. If you need any help, look out for a bloke called Max Rockatansky. He may help you - dependant on if he's a burnt out shell of a man.
