Re: Hot off the presses!! Arthur sacked as Aus coach.
Crash Craddock was on Foxsports News saying the first Arthur heard about the Warner-Root incident was when he was chatting to Twatto about some disciplinary matters, and Watson said sumpent like "Well OK, but what about Warner?" Arthur said "What?" and didn't know about it.
Apparently the delay in the Warner incident being reported to CA was the last straw for the Board. I feel a bit for Arthur because he was kept in the dark by senior players until Twatto dobbed. So Twatto is a dobber, Warner is an angry little drunken qunt, and Arthur, trying to follow the recommendations of the Argus report re: proper discipline, gets the arse. All very messy.
Aus is a fractured side and this could be 1977 all over again. Complete disharmony destroying team resolve. Only weather can save us from 5-0.

Apparently* Arthur has no clue he was on thin ice. His wife said he was completely gutted at the decision of CA.

Re: Hot off the presses!! Arthur sacked as Aus coach.
Press conference is a bit like watching politicians doing what they do best - not answering the question.
Mickey Arthur has acknowledged that the team was never fully galvanised under his leadership. Sounds like some players took a disliking to him from Day 1. Clean these qunts out, starting with Warner.
Again, I feel for Mickey Arthur. I reckon he'll have success with other teams after this. Michael Clarke was apparently close to him and was a bit devoed at his axing. A pity all the players didn't commit like Pup.
Sutherland, what a dud. Surfed on the coat tails of one of the greatest eras of Aus cricket history (let's call it the Warne era), but when the cattle is not there, fumble about like the bumbling fool you are.

A coach can only be as good as the team. Aus come full circle from a self-automated team that needed no coaches to one who can't be helped even by a coach.

Indeed V. Back in the black days of the mid 80s, Aus had a band of keen young cricketers desperate to do well for their country. They had discipline, just no leadership. AB admitted it. Bob Simpson came in and ruled these kids with an iron fist, gave the necessary direction and lead Aus into a Golden Age.
I don't think Boof has the cattle just yet, but hopefully he can clean some of the chaff out and start the rebuild. I really worry that the i-Gen age of Aus cricketers (big bucks, but not having to work hard for it) may take some turning around.

Good news for Australia, bad news for England. Let's face it, Mickey Arthur was a joke and Lehmann might just give the Aussies a boost just before the Ashes. Embarrassing as the timing is, it's a good move.
Racist outbursts notwithstanding, he's someone who is highly respected. He'll do a good job.

Not too sure about that Neil. I have never hard a brief for Arthur but there are clearly underlying problems that undermined him.

Aye, but it was his job to sort those problems out and he failed miserably. The Australian team is dangerously close to becoming a laughing stock - something had to give.

Not sure how much actual backing he got. The rotation system was nothing to do with him, but I don't thin that will be the prevailing view in two years time, once spin is applied

Yeah, Lehmann's got decent coaching credentials.
Can't do any harm - they were flatlining under Arthur. I'm sure he was far from the main problem, but there's not a f*ck load else they can address between now and the first Test.

They haven't got a spinner.

Indeed.
The Australian cricket team have become like one of those 90-year-old Nazi war criminals that they occasionally catch after 70 years on the run. You instinctively hate them and want them to suffer horribly, but there's a small part of you that pities the shambling mess that they've become.
