Are bastards more common in India? Can't think of any other way it could be construed as racist. Offensive, perhaps; socially insensitive, perhaps, but not racist.

It's the same reason why Lehmann got into trouble not for the second word of his celebrated and much discussed outburst, but for the first word.

i was referring more to the fact that he "earned" the right to sledge....unlike the likes of prior/smith etc he didn't sound comical when dishing it out (since he invariably came out on top in the field). However I don't deny there was an element of "playground bullyness" in McGrath
