A suggestion for Melbourne and Sydney...

Well, we've just named a Lions squad. How about, instead of/before going to Sri Lanka, we send them out to Australia to play the final two Tests? Perhaps keep the youngsters from the current squad like Root and Stokes, and those who haven't played such as Ballance, Rankin and Bairstow, and come up with a team from that.

It would be an open audition, they would be expected to lose, some would be well out of their depths but others might take the opportunity to cement their place for some time to come. They would all be hungry, fresh and the Aussies would know little about most of them.

As for the senior players - tell them that they will only get back in through going back to county cricket and forcing the selectors' hands through weight of runs and wickets. If they're up for the fight and still have the ability, they will take up the challenge. If not, the Sky commentary box awaits.

Early comments in here on the Lions squad weren't overly generous.   

My suggestion is they should grow some balls, grow some brains, grow some guts and grow the f*ck up. It's all about the growing.
