Quite a few answers to respond to here ....

JGK:

29: No. Very much a bowler. (And snappy dresser.)

4, 6 - no, both at the wrong end of the antipodes!

8: no - already identified by Wally!


6: Rose well spotted by Wally, and correctly identified by Gary. (Finally, one of my cricket heroes FWIW!)

7 & 30 - both correct by Wally. (30: one of those 1930s dobbers. Or to be more accurate, one of those fast bowlers Fingleton complains were neutralised as a result of Bodyline. Also a hero (for some) of AFL.)


So, what's left? ~ ~ ~ Not much: 3, 4, 18, 26, 29 .... and 33.

Clues if needed:

3: Early spin wizard. Described briefly at one point as the "best bowler in the world". Not a Pom. Or an Aussie.

4: Aussie keeper. Very famous, not only for his own achievements.

18: Note the hat. Note the colour of the stripe on the trousers.

26: Not presently much favoured as a batting coach. Too often a forlorn-looking figure. In his playing days, rarely through his own fault.

29: Legendary bowler, by any standards. And always a snappy dresser.

33: Note the sketching implement. Not a player, as you can probably see.

...... and Wally sweeps up all the others, with his usual world wide net of knowledge. (Sorry, I somehow missed this earlier.)
