The Revenge of the Oscar Wilde Appreciation Picture Quiz (2)
If you need an introduction (or tips), please see Set 1 - *DEFINITE LINKAGE*.
With this new Set, because of its theme, I'd say look particularly for clues each time whether it seems to be a frontline/relatively competent batsman, or low-technique bowler/tailender - this may help recognition with this patikler set of 30 players!
[Mr Cholmondely-Warner voice]
Now sit up and pay attention, readers. This second set focuses mainly on how chaps can deal severely with the fast rising ball - or "bumping ball", as fashionable people are now wont to call it.
Admittedly, it can be dashed tricky to get these little blighters away for runs.
We will however see, in the following series of pictures, an impressive range of techniques one can employ in order to master such dastardly deliveries, such as:
* the "whippy backflex" (a cunning ploy where the batsman suddenly pretends to back, crack and sack his own spine)
* the "beetle on its back" (the batsman slides under the ball and flails his limbs manfully)
* the "dog style" (the batsman chucks his body to the turf and amorously "mounts" it)
* the "salmon-leap flinch with periscope" (boldly hoisting his bat in the manner of a white flag, he simultaneously ducks & smartly flings his body upward - straight into the path of the rising ball)
* the "flying flinch" (similar in tactic and result, but without the bother of employing the bat)
* the "shot puppet" (the batsman lulls the 'speed bowler' into a false sense of security by feigning a limp, assassinated shape)
[/Mr Cholmondely-Warner voice]
In short: how many of these 30 batsmen can you identify?
PLEASE SPOILER!
Please note, folks: These things take time. I'll give feedback on any answers sometime tomorrow or Sunday!
