Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Kill List was on TV a while back. I PVR'd it. But when I got around to watching it, it was late, I was tired, I fell asleep. Only got as far as about 20 minutes into a mundane dinner party. Assumed I didn't miss much. Deleted it.
That may have been a mistake.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
It was. Big time.
I just wrote out a non spoiler-y paragraph about the general mood of the film but even that tells you too much. I had such a strong reaction to it without knowing anything but the name, I would like others to have the same experience. It's vital that you watch it all the way through. One of the best British films of all time IMO.

That was 17 years ago.
I guess he's meant to be around 50 now. So yeah, 17 years ago he was mid 30s, but he banged the second girl in 2002 when he would have been around 41-42. She's the one he gave the money to at the "ranch" back in 1995, telling her to "do something else", when she was about 15 and a prostitute. So she would have only been 21-22 when he "gave" her the "money" once again in 2002.
(1995)
Rust: "Is that a down payment?"
Marty: "Is shitting on any moment of decency part of your job description?"
(2002)
Marty, the human tampon, gets a sweet return on his investment.
Nothing gets by Rust.
Some great dialogue.
I assume you mean the "I've never done that before, but I think I want you to do it to me" passage
Women are just evil

So has anyone seen the finale of TD yet? Is it worth the hype?
Hopefully watch it tonight.

It's extremely tense, and the first scene is incredibly bizarre and twisted. The denouement drags on a bit.....

- Spoiler:
- The first 40 minutes was gripping, tense, outstanding TV. The denouement in the hospital was a bit soppy. I was surprised they both live. Obviously season two is far from ruled out.

- Spoiler:
- Season 2 is ruled in. But neither actor will be in it. That was always the deal: new story, new location, new characters (not even necessarily detectives). New director as well.
It was a solid finale, I thought. The confrontation with Errol Childress (and his wife/mum/sister) was as dark and creepy as it needed to be, albeit for a story that had thrown up so many different strands, it was a little narrow and by the book. We never did find out what was up with Marty's daughter; the Tuttle link to the sacrifices was brushed under the carpet. Why did that guy in prison kill himself after receiving a phonecall?
Rust and Marty's buddy-cop routine at the end there was a bit Lethal Weapon. And Rust's moment of catharsis in the face of impending death, while touchingly played - the acting really has been top banana on this show - was rather unsubtle, as though the eight weeks of portraying Cohle as the most nihilistic of nihilists was just layered on thick for the purposes of a feel-good epiphany at the climax.
Looking forward to seeing what Nic Pizzolatto comes up with for the second season. True Detective has been a little gem.

- Spoiler:
- Wasn't it implied that Rust was the person who called the guy in prison before he killed himself? In one of the following episodes, during one of his renowned interviews with a murder suspect, Rust whispers to the woman who has just admitted to murdering her child that she should kill herself in prison. I thought that was the answer as to who had made the phone call- Rust obviously thought killers deserved no less than death themselves, and he had such a way with words that they felt compelled to do what he said.

- Spoiler:
- I think it was misdirection, to keep Cohle as a suspect. I just read an interview with the creator where he stated that one of the prison guards on duty during the suicide was a Childress. They mentioned his name at the time on the show, but it meant nothing to us then so no dots were joined.

Seems like he'd be a cool guy to hang out with in real life, but he has no acting range at all.

Aye, gob-smacking premiere and the following eps are pretty damn good. Frank Underwood - the Walter White of US Politics. He's so bad you can't help but barrack for him.
Love the present Meechum gave him for his birthday - a set of F & U cufflinks!!
