England make 290/8 in their warmup game vs the UWI Vice Chancellors XI. Nephew with a century. Dunno how they're doing with the ball as coverage of cricket matches outside of internationals in the West Indies is always so primitive.

Hello everyone

There are 3 ODIs and 3 T20s in this series. Will this thread be covering all games, or do English posters wish to have individual threads for each of the 6 games?

Personally I think a single thread would suffice.

I'm definitely hoping for a WI whitewash, to make the inevitable coronation of the King of Spain as uncomfortable as possible for the ECB...

Gayle's out of the series, unfortunately. Even England SHOULD beat this Windies team.

It's largely our JAMITT team playing the longer form, as well... so perhaps more chance of success than our "let's give the opposition a 10 over head start" first choice team.

So what I'm hearing is that England were cruising to victory but suddenly there's been a 100 partnership off about 70 balls for the 6th wicket and the UWI VC XI need around 50 off the last five overs.

England don't deserve Rikki status anymore. They should be downgraded to associate level "floating" threads.

Well we want to lose this series spectacularly so that those in power might realise something needs doing, other than scapegoating our best player of the last decade and giving a vote of confidence to all the yes men who performed at least as badly in Australia...

There's already talk among Giles allies about how he's "never had a full strength squad to choose from" as England coach. How often does ANY coach around the world get to choose from a 100% full strength squad. And it's the ECB's fault that the squad isn't at full strength anyway!

I just hope Giles and Gooch (with luck also Clarke, G) are caught in a huge financial sting (or failing that, a match-fixing scam, or sex/drugs scandal).

Though unfortunately Clarke can boast survival experience of utter corruption under his belt, and turned it to his advantage (re-election), so appears indestructible.

Anyway, what will the England team be? Morgan is apparently in doubt now. Oh joy. I'd guess something like-

They've actually picked the squad with the intention of helping make Gashley's excuses for him beforehand. It's not a proper, full strength ODI squad, therefore he can't be expected to win every game.

He's perhaps more likely to lose with the full side... at least some of these might have a go, rather than starting off like it's the first morning of a Test on a green seamer. Although Dernbach's inclusion surely cancels all that out... he more than compensates for not blocking out 10 overs.
