Meh - details. The important thing is, no-one's feelings got hurt.
Apart from the feeling in Joe Root's thumb, which he has apparently broken in eight places. I didn't even know there were eight breakable places in the thumb.
Surely that means his thumb is like a felt bag full of bits of bone?
Nope, except Gashley's is strengthening his grip on the job in a brilliant display of negging!

To use a phrase much associated (well, I associate it) with the English team ODI and 20:20 team philosophy- He does a job for England....

Krishmar Santokie - Man Of The Match
4 T20 Internationals
14 List A games
46 Twenty 20 games
But he has never played a first class match. I guess limited over specialists are a feature of the modern game.

I always maintain that good cricketers should be able to adapt to all formats, and that anyone who isn't capable of holding down a regular FC place shouldn't be playing international cricket of any description, maybe that is an out of date view but it's not as if it's a different sport. Players just allow themselves to be pigeonholed too early perhaps.

They showed a statistic on TV along the lines of: after 3 overs, England had hit 1 four, West Indies have hit 1 four and 3 sixes.

Yeah, he broke it in the bath, in the toilet, in bed, on the way to the ground, ....

Dressing rooms aren't supposed to be happy places when the team is losing. If they are seriously trying to create a happy atmosphere in a losing dressing room in any way other than trying to win matches then we are f*cked royally for the long term.
You could have 11 utter thunderqunts who hate each other in a team but if they are winning games, it will be a happy dressing room.
I'm pleased that the dressing room wasn't a happy one when we were getting assf*cked 5-0, it should have been f*cking miserable. Making it a happy one whilst being gangbanged won't make us win matches, it will make us totally content with losing, which seems to be what we are working towards.
Eugh, these f*cking people.

Dressing rooms? More like Depressing rooms! Am I right? Can I get an Amen?

Just as well he did . . . England's middle order were rag-arsed pants following the good start from Lumb and Hales.

Well, he did his best to. 7 needed off 1 ball, wide, 6 off 1, another wide if Sammy had left it!

Well played KP (that's Katie Price as opposed to the Yarpom outcast, though the latter must be enjoying what he's watching from this England side on the whole...) Again, some dismal cricket after a promising start from most of the others. No Bresnan meant we only had one bowler to throw it away at the end and Turdbach couldn't quite do it on his own.

Still probably the biggest donkey in world cricket - even bringing the WIndies back into it when they needed 7 off the last ball, as described above.
Take half this team, and you'd have the makings of a decent side.

I've found myself hoping England will lose. Am I the only one? The way things are at the moment, I really don't want there to be any reason at all for the ECB and Giles to be back-slapping each other.

Yeah, I said at the start of this series that I want to see their inevitable appointment of Giles on a permanent basis be as awkward as possible for them given recent results.
They keep scraping the occasional win though, which is probably enough for not too many questions to be asked within the setup. A couple of wins in Bangladesh will do the same.

Feel the same. Slightly disappointed that we didn't manage to lose it with 7 required from the last ball. That would have been a first.Henry wrote:I've found myself hoping England will lose. We really could lose every game in Bangladesh and part of me hopes we do.

I believe I voiced that opinion back about 2 months ago when the sh*t hit the fan with the KP dumping.
I especially do not want England to win under Cook at any time.
Simple as that.
My alliegance to Morgan sways me a bit on the ODI/T20 front, as does Lumb, Hales (I've played against him in his early days when he played for a local team in our league) and Colly's presence . . . however, any side that has Cook in it, is, for me, as good as beaten and will not have my support.

Any side with Cook in it (seems extreme) ... or just any side with Cook as captain?

Any side captained by Cook.
Don't mind him so much if he's just a team member.
