It's done. Back to back maximums from Chris Hayle and it's 7 needed off the last over, presumably bowled by Flangelo.

Pretty special chase, especially with the first over.

Ends it with a sixer. Hales' first meaningful innings in about a year.
The Giles era plods on.

Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
Aye, well played Hales - you bastard. Giles, Durdback and Brezzylad are leaping aboard the open-top bus now.
Danny Morrison sounds like Warney with the (cricket) brain taken out.

Well, that innings masks a whole load of sh1te!
Fielding appalling, mindset dreadful, no poise irrespective of a shocker of an umpiring decision. And Tim F@CKING Bresnan is still fodder and continues to be selected!
All we will hear is how they won, but Giles has done nothing to improve this team in the implementation of the basic cricket skills or mindset since he has had them, as many a mouthpiece has requested for a prolonged period of time!

Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
Who'll be the first to tout Hales for the Test side (averaged around 6 in FC cricket last season)?
Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
Won by 2 guys who batted beautifully - esp Hales.
As holcs says - Piles will take full credit for t/his win - and it will all revert to type as Bresf**kingnan (bowled shite and dropped two) and Dirtscumbag (bowled shite and dropped one) continue to be selected.
Oh well - the Jaaarps will see Engerlund off to the plane on Tuesday.

He should be in the JAMODI side, anyway.Dello wrote:Who'll be the first to tout Hales for the Test side (averaged around 6 in FC cricket last season)?
Sounds like some knock from him to snatch that one after one of the most shambolic efforts in the field even by England's standards. Our batting is very hit and miss but unlike the longer formats we do at least have a few players who can swing the momentum decisively when they do get going.
Got a strange feeling we might scrape our way to winning this, or at least come close, guaranteeing Giles and his favourites a job for many years to come. Either that or we'll get a pasting from Holland. Assuming we will see off the men in orange, the Yarpies look pretty fragile, but could well come down to NRR with three teams on three wins?

Anyway, Bresnan - can't bat, bowl or field, but he's a good team man who gets on with everyone, and that's what matters...

That's the thing about t20. You just need one player to fire. QdK, Faf, AB and Albie are due.

Yeah, and we saw the Dutch put in a spectacular display against Ireland, then get bowled out for the square root of bugger all by SL, then almost shock SA a few days later. In such a short format (game and tournament) every team's probably got a big performance in them and certainly 8 of the 10 teams have the potential to win it.

Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
Awesome innings from Hales. If nothing else, he's shown what great natural talent he has. If only he could knuckle down and refine his technique a bit. I fear this innings wont help his cause long-term.
This game has shown the pros and cons of T20. Pros- It produces incredible individual performances. Cons- All it takes is one incredible individual performance to win a game.

You mean I make large sums of money off the cricket without actually toiling in the field, am on first name terms with cricketers around the world, hobnob with society's elite, and travel round the world to exotic locations?

Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
It won't come down to NRR between 3 teams as Sri Lanka and New Zealand have yet to play each other so one of them won't get 3 wins. It's effectively a knock out match tomorrow between us and the saffers. To make the remainder of my stay here bearable I really do hope we win it even if the Dutchies embarrass us later on.
Anyway, I think we can all agree that English cricket is utterly farked and probably will be for the forseeable future. With that in mind, lets for once just f*cking well enjoy one of the rare occasions when something good happens. That was a pretty phenomenal innings yesterday and a remarkable comeback.
