Lancs sign up seamer Nathan Buck, 23. Looked an outstanding prospect IMHO in the England U19 side that featured Root, Buttler, Stokes, Vince and Briggs, but his senior career's gone nowhere.

Maybe a change of scenery will help him tap into his potential. Bowls (or used to bowl) mid 80s with a bit of aggression - touch of the Harmisons about him.

Probably amount to nothing, but hey...

Poor Leics. They get constantly rinsed, then rinsed again. Shiv Thakor has moved to Derbs. To add great insult to injury, you get county queens like Dello becoming all joyous about it - like nasty Leics have been holding him back. It's his fault alone that he's a dobber.

That LBW right at the end wouldn't have hit a second set.

Of course he's right to move away from Leics. just as Topley should leave Essex and Payne should ditch Gloucs. The small Counties simply do not develop young quick bowlers. At these smaller Counties they become 77mph line and length dobbers as they are mollycoddled by the County they have been with their entire life. They fall into a massive comfort zone.

Another hundred for Adam Lyth. Too bad for him that it's seven months before England next play a test match.

Even Direbyshire are picking off Leics players now. They haven't won a Championship match in two years, is that a record? Minor county in all but name these days, they deserve a relegation play-off wih Devon or whoever...

Fourth hundred of the season for Sam Hain.

I assume he's still eligible for Australia...

Had to mention something, keep up the illusion of having some interest in cricket.

Didn't want to woof Jason Roy, so Hain was my man.

He knows there isn't a Test place up for grabs at the moment so he's concentrating on ODD this season.

Patterson, eh? 77mph dobbers, awful gangling delivery stride, looks like he's putting as much effort into it as doing the washing up - got 200+ FC wickets @ 28.... I think there's a damning indictment of English bowlers in there somewhere.

He's been unbelievable in 50 over cricket this season though. Not sure why the shift in performance from one to the other, except perhaps confidence?

One-day cricket could be his only way into the England inner circle though, as it seems like Ballance, Bell and Root have 3-5 in the Test side sewn up for some time to come and post-Swann we will need a five-man attack for the foreseeable future. If he comes into the 50 over game and does well then that might put to rest a few doubts about his international credentials giving him more chance of a shot at Tests again if he finds some form in the longer game and a vacancy opens up (although batsmen rarely seem to get injured these days, have modern gloves solved the "poppadum fingers" issues as with Hussain, Stewart etc. back in the day?)

Anyway, if averaging 32 is a bad season... Hales averaged about 15 in FC last season, now he's being talked of as a Test prospect again.

Who would be a Worcs. supporter: promotion tied up six weeks ago, and then we lose momentum because of the gap in championship cricket due to the Royal London Cup.

124 behind with 10 wickets in hand: hmmm..... get 200 ahead and we might be in business.

A bonus today is the news that we've signed Alex Gidman from Glos.

Squeaky bum time: we've hauled ourselves back into this game courtesy of the mighty Jack Shantry, but we need to set Slurrey at least 250 to have a chance, which means scoring 380+ in our second innings. Not good odds.

It looks like coming down to next week's game against Essex - unless Kent can bowl the chavs out for less than 20 tomorrow.

Christ! how sick must Glos supporters feel - their best player by far scores 264 in a little more than a day and then announces he's off. I almost feel sorry for them..........but not quite.

Angry Jack is an absolute legend - 50 wickets at 24.5 bowling nothing quicker than low 70s mph so far, and now his first ton. The forecast is for more cloud cover today, which will help us but you'd still put your money on Slurrey to win from here sadly.

And respect to Mitch McClenaghan for continuing to play despite the sad news of his father's death.
