Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Middlesex in horror show against drop rivals Durham at Lord's.
Still need 352 today with 9 wickets in hand to avoid losing and thus falling
to 3rd last atop Lanky and the Pants.
And where is their coach Fraser when he's needed to "inspire"?
Out looking at other "talent" across the country in his capacity as England selector.
Qunt.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Gotta hate Northants. Feeble dogshit. I cannot wait for this blowbang to end. Utter, utter whipped-dog qunts. They can go and f*ck themselves.
Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
The Tykes look like they've got the Championship in the bag.
The only game they were beaten in this season was at the hands
of Middlesex who scored 452 (ish) to win the game!
P W L D Bt Bw Points
1 Yorkshire 15 8 1 6 46 42 0.0 246.0
2 Warwickshire 15 7 4 4 42 40 0.0 214.0
3 Nottinghamshire 15 6 5 4 46 37 0.0 199.0
4 Somerset 14 4 2 8 35 36 0.0 175.0
5 Durham 14 4 3 7 37 37 0.0 173.0
6 Middlesex 14 4 5 5 33 35 2.0 155.0
7 Sussex 13 4 4 5 33 32 0.0 154.0
8 Lancashire 14 3 5 6 24 36 0.0 138.0
9 Northants 14 0 11 3 25 27 0.0 67.0
Funny enough, that same bloody Middlesex (2nd in Table after 6 games)are now struggling at the bottom of the Table - Sussex (1 pt behind) will overhaul them as they have a game in hand - which will leave Lancs and Middlesex to fight out the remaining drop side with 2 games yet to be played.
SACK FRASER.
PS - Buck Rogers seems unlikely to continue with Middlesex next season.
Who can blame him.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
If I had said, this time last week that Jack Shantry would have scored a ton at better than a run a ball and taken a tenfer in the match to secure promotion, I would have been sectioned.
Today's win was all the sweeter because there were four ex-Worcs players in the Surrey side.
I f you had offered me fourth in the table on the day that Alan Richardson announced his retirement, I would have bitten your hand off.

Yeah, well played the Puddings... only their second title since the 60s, that's hard to believe for the most iconic of cricketing counties. No longer the closed shop of old, but they seem to have rediscovered their identity with a team based around producing their own talent (haven't checked how many born and bred Yorkshiremen are among them, but I suspect a fair few).
Time for Notts to get the chequebook out again

Andrew Gale's captaincy and Jason Gillespie's coaching - more like mentoring
(unlike a certain dickhead called Fraser) - were solid contributors to the Tykes success.

Unless I'm much mistaken, only Jack Brookes isn't a product of YCCC academy.

From Bumpy on the BBC website:
But there is one bloke who we should really pay tribute to for this promotion and that's Damian D'Oliveira. It was so very sad in the middle of the season. The boys took it quite bad, so we are dedicating this promotion to Damian."

Here's the problem with judging potential England players on Div 2 stats: Jessy Ryder is opening the bowling for Essex and averaging under 20 for the season.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Very rarely will a player get called up to an England or Lions squad based on division two stats these days. Having said that, these current selectors seem very conservative. Whatever happened to seeing a player play, backing his natural talent, and giving him a go?

Hmmmm, I'd stick this under the 'dobbers reap rewards' category most English bowlers are under. Lollop up, dob it on a length, let the conditions do the rest.

You reckon? Not denying that happens but this is an extreme example. Before this season Ryder had taken about 50 first class wickets. He's taken 35 this season and he wasn't even bowling regularly at the start. I don't reckon this would fly in Div 1.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Probably not to that extent, I think the pitches are a little bit better overall and the batsmen are too. I think he'd be a classic case though: bit of nibble aligned with accuracy. I could see him dobbing his way to a reasonable amount of wickets over here, in a damp summer.
Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
I have to admit, beyond those grainy fixed-camera highlights you can get now for CC matches, I've not seen him bowl. Maybe he's really worked on his bowling and is actually a decent option in (domestic) English conditions. Essex have another bowler who's the epitome of the accurate, dob it on a length and let the conditions do the rest bowler and he's been their most succesful bowler by a distance for the last few years. If that's what Jesse Ryder is bowling like as well no wonder he's had success.

I'm just surprised he's sober enough to get through all of those overs.

Mark Ealham and Ian Austin took stacks of County wickets. Jessie Ryder is in a similar mould- A fat man who waddles up and puts it on a length.

Leicestershire are really, really bad aren't they? Given what has happened to Northants this year I'm not sure I want Essex to be promoted.

It really is getting beyond a joke how uncompetitive they are, in the four-day game at least... they conceded over 500 runs in a day last week as well didn't they? I think they need some sort of ultimatum to get their act together to retain FC status.MoH wrote:Leicestershire are really, really bad aren't they? Apparently someone else has gone two successive winless seasons since WWII according to one report, any idea who? Has to be Direbyshire doesn't it?

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
According to Wikipedia it hasn't happened since the war... but the mighty Pants went 99 matches without a win over four years (three complete seasons) between 1935 and 1939. Leicestershire have a tough task to beat that one...

I know!! Although, wait, what would Notts do for their playing staff then?
Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
I wonder which large rock Fraser's hiding under as his team get rinsed inside out by the Zummersetters.
Taunton FFS.... flattest batting track in the country.... sunny day ... temp 23 C.
Somerset score 523 for 9dec
Middlesex in reply .... 64 for 7.... which, when all is said and done, borders on a recovery, having been 11 for 4 after 5 overs !!
You couldn't make this shit up even if you tried.
Middlesex now seriously facing the drop.
Fraser ... f**k off to the ECB and stay there you f**king moron.
Ramprakash ... ditto ... p*ss off ... England's batting coach FFS !!

I don't know, Lincolnshire could replace them? Otherwise will have to be that sheep bothering lot up the A52, they seem to be producing more talent than Leics these days, even if that isn't saying much...Brass Monkey wrote:beamer wrote:It really is getting beyond a joke how uncompetitive they are, in the four-day game at least... they conceded over 500 runs in a day last week as well didn't they?
