Anyone back Fallen Leaf?
I'm a little surprised that I didn't. I backed a horse in France a couple of weeks ago that dropped dead during the running of a race.

Meanwhile, Jameka is surely a good thing for the Melbourne Cup after trouncing them in the Caulfield.

Jameka was certainly impressive today & helped us get the quady. She was also impressive at her previous start when running second but was still three lengths behind Hartnell who is absolutely flying this season.

Yeah shades of M&P, though not as impressive going to be hard to overlook if they run it.
Was that the quaddy that had a Million buck jackpot?

Astonishing performance.

Pretty useful mare...heaps of stallions are keen as .mustard. Even old gelding meerkats are pounding away at rsvp.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
Argh. Betfair is down. Today of all days.
Tough Cup to pick - there has to be some value somewhere.
For the record I've boxed Big Orange, Hartnell, Jameka, Oceanographer, Bondi Beach and Almandin in a trifecta.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
Big Orange is fancied, but Melbourne's leading trainer said he's 'too slow'.
Some suggest Jameka won't go the journey and is carrying too much weight.
If the race is run hard, true stayers like Who shot the Barman? are tipped to come into reckoning. Last year's race was slowly run and the track had a bias which meant some horses didn't have much of a show because of their barrier draw.
Of all the prognostications, will be interesting to see who is right in the end. There only appear to be a handful which can be eliminated in terms of having no hope whatsoever.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
I think Hartnell is easily the best horse & if he runs to his best, he will win. The main concern is that despite winning over two miles in England, his two runs over that distance in Australia have been a bit disappointing although there were excuses on both occasions. However, his form this spring has been many lengths better than last year.
I'm also having a small wager on Wicklow Brave & have trifectas with Almandin & Oceanographer on top. Plus I have included Exospheric, Who Shot Thebarman, Grand Marshall & Qewy in exotics.
I think Jameka is a terrific mare but have left her out because she is by Myboycharlie out of a General Nediym mare & might struggle to run two miles.

They were all highly rated by cup analysts this morning so it looks like you've done your homework.

If Hartnell is the best horse in the race, what does that say about Winx?

Winx is clearly better over shorter distances.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
So a lot got it right because Almandin seemed to be quite a rage this morning. A pity that Hartnell the best horse doesn't get to win one in the Melbourne spring. Would have preferred a better story, though KM wins the cup sixteen years apart.
