Re: The Horse Racing Thread
Melbourne Cup is on this Tuesday.
My top three selections are -
Lucia Valentina - Her form has been brilliant this spring. Finished strongly to run 3rd in the Caulfield Cup & showed she likes Flemington by winning the Turnbull Stakes there.
Who Shot Thebarman - Didn't settle at all in the Caulfield Cup but a lot of horses don't like Caulfield. His two previous wins at Flemington were outstanding & has shown he can run 3200m by winning the Auckland Cup in March.
Signoff - Strong staying performance to win the Lexus Stakes, only has to carry 51kg & has the World's best jockey aboard.
I have a number of others rated close to those three & will probably include them for the placings in a trifecta.

I rate Fawkner very highly. He is one of those that I mentioned was close to the top three & would be going in my trifecta for a place. Last week he was my top selection for the Cox Plate.
Is he your selection?

by my standards I won a motza on the Derby....I'd really like to thank Gai Waterhouse for bringing down tomorrow's tin of dog food who ran out as favourite..Gai personally inflated the return to my kick

The handicapper hinted it might have beaten the handicapper.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
11 out of 24 horses going to post trained outside Australia!
The prize money now really tempting the foreigners!!
Having glanced at the form book from afar, I like the look of Mutual Regard and Who Shot Thebarman - and of course Ed Dunlop's Red Cadeaux (each way in his case as he's so often the bridesmaid!)
I know his form leaves a lot to be desired, but no mention of the infamous Bart Cummings' Precedence - his only runner ?! Surely he's worth a bob each way...
..... if only for his trainer's reputation in this race??!

Glen Boss was on the wireless this morning. When asked about his horse's - Who Shot Thebarman - chances he was so so. When asked which other horse he'd like to be on he instantly said Admire Ratki.

I am surprised so many "experts" have dropped off him (apart from rival trainers and jockeys). The newcastle mare is the only thing out of the Caulfield Cup with a chance of threatening and the Euros are always a lucky dip and they look weaker than usual this year.
