I bet Ngam's having multiple orgasms.
On Merlin's orgasming, quivering backside.
How's that for post my comment here?

Re: IPL 2014
46 days...
46 days for a single-format domestic tournament is cool. Bit long, but cool.
46 days for an international cricket-stopping tournament is wank.
46 days for an international cricket-stopping tournament that, by-and-large, offers sub-standard, inept, Americanised, heavily-sensationalised, overtly commercial, smug, corrupt, arrogant cricket is the pits. The absolute pits. I grow to hate this period more and more, and the cricketers more and more because the hysterical level of excitement for such a non-event is so far beyond the f*cking pale that I'm almost agog at times. It's so contrived most of the time.
I cannot convey how much of a disgrace this tournament is.
Don't get me wrong, I'll probably watch portions, but the only reason I would watch any of it is because I love cricket. The most certain thing about it is that if I do watch any, I'll be watching it on mute, because it is desperate at times how fawningly sycophantic the commentary is.
I find myself watching less and less of this tournament because it becomes less and less like cricket.

team names like Bangalore Bretheren, Delhi Dharamasalas; Mumbai Mumbojumbo's;
Wankaner Wankers; Visakhapatnam Virgins; Udaipur Uteruses; Tilda Newra Tits and the Kolkotta Kun..s . . .

Doom and gloomers. Ravi Shastri, Danny Morrison and Shivaramakrishnan in the same commentary team. What's not to like?

Not too dissimilar to the Big Bash, really. Same type of teams, similar names, similar commentary, similar type of excitement.
That isn't to say either is bad, but it certainly says neither is good. Main problem is that international cricket stops.

Aye, some Aussies can be a wee bit precious when it comes to the IPL.

Re: IPL 2014
Just turned it on and seen the horrendous umpire camera. If they really wanted an umpire camera, they could've just copied the referee cam used by Fox in Super rugby.

Has anyone seen the video of Shane Watson playing the guitar and singing at the IPL launch party on Tuesday night? Cringeworthy stuff!

And the whole cast on the stage is just as cringeworthy. Faf's wife seemed amused.

It doesn't get any less cringeworthy watching it a second time! The reactions of the audience say it all, and Sharukh Khan clapping along and attempting to harmonise don't help matters one bit!

Re: IPL 2014
To the point of nothing at all Sharukh Khan once made a fellow reporter wait for five hours for an interview for a business magazine, and then emerged claiming a 103 degree fever, sipping a glass of scotch, sniffing and rubbing his nose. Genuinely charming man, apparently.

An IPL virus. The ex-Hyderabad team were slated to arrive at around noon for the opening ceremony of a function hall where I lived. Finally arrived at about 5 o'clock.
