Yes funny that both higher ranked teams went out in straight sets, a clear reversal of recent trends.

There's a theory which a lot of St K insiders hold to, that however many years the dreaded 'premiership window' is open for clubs with other coaches, you should cut it in half for Lyon mobs because his style of football is impossible to maintain long-term.

Well Lyon's style would put a lot of stress on players both physically and mentally. Many critics also think that he is too defensive and his sides struggle to kick enough goals to win finals. In fairness to him though Freo did have a lot of injuries tonight.
He was also a kinder bounce away from winning a flag against a more fancied opponent.

Can Port beat the Hawks, to face Sydney in the GF?
North look likely to lose Harvey for at least a week.

Isn't he already unbearable?
Well done to Port on the comeback, and another year the Premier ship doesn't dock in Freo.

They blew it with their inaccuracies in front of goal, just like in last years GF

Could happen, but having the week off is an advantage. Sick of this AFL twilight bullcrap scheduling

Yes, a twilight Hawks/Port game is not an ideal finals scheduling. Last year Port took it up to the Hawks but the latter certainly is fresh and when they step up their game they seem to go to a level that most teams cannot match.
Port has the personnel and game-plan to worry the Hawks though. Freo down on numbers would have probably succumbed pretty easily in the end, especially as their forward line as been problematic even during their few years of glory.
On Friday night's form, Norf probably can't overcome the Swans. Geelong was very ordinary yet the Kangas in the end were hanging on for dear life.

when they beat us earlier in the year, we had numerous injuries and the margin was only 14 points on their home turf.

Well you will be raging favourites but at least for us neutrals Port should in theory be a more competitive matchup than what a battered Freo might have managed.
Interesting to see if Harvey's challenge tomorrow night is successful.

Can't see how they could possibly let him off. Would make a total joke of several decisions earlier in the sea son.

Re: AFL 2014
Credit to the Match Review chaps. They remain consistent no matter what part of the season. Will the Roos wheel in the QCs to try to get Harvey's case held over until beyond the weekend?
Having said that, I have to say I'm surprised Harvey got a week. It looked pretty innocuous.

He collected a bloke who was 10m off the ball and not looking. He deserved a week just for being weak

We know the MRP is consistently inconsistent. Then again it is those who are up for review who also attract inconsistent rulings. For example most observers were surprised that Goodes and Buddy managed to escape any sanction.
We also know that at times the judiciary can be notoriously soft around finals time. How Barry Hall got to play in the 2005 GF still remains a mystery.
