Allardyce leaves West Ham. McClaren sacked by Derby. Ancelotti sacked by Real Madrid.
This could be one f*cked up managerial merry-go-round.

Re: The Football Thread 2014/15
And Nigel Clough at Sheffield United...
Ancelotti says he wants a break, but he and Man City would appear made for each other. However it looks like they might stick with Pellegrini for another season, and Yaya could stay... so another year of underachievement with the same ageing squad, probably slipping behind United and Arsenal.

City will keep Pellegrini for another season while Pep runs his contract out at Bayern.
It's not so much a vote of confidence as a stay of execution.
Wonder where Klopp's going to end up?

Re: The Football Thread 2014/15
Not sure he suits an "open chequebook" club, more a team he can build in his own mould - but I think they will have to be in the Champions League which rules out the likes of Liverpool.
It might be a season of stopgap appointments, stays of execution and gap years for a big name or two, before the major clubs get who they really want next summer.

Re: The Football Thread 2014/15
geebers...soccer is such a funny over-rated game.
...dont get me wrong. I like the game and am occasionally thrilled by the best play at an international, German, Italian, French or Spanish leagues...BUT...the game suffers in comparison to some other sports that combine hand/eye and physical courage...rugger, even RL, basketball, hockey (ice and grass), cricket, baseball, gridiron, hurling, gaelic and Oz rules footy to name but a few

True....I'd PMSL if Blatter was one of the one's arrested.
Re: The Football Thread 2014/15
Unfortunately he wasn't and will no doubt ease his way to a 5th term as chief mobster on Friday unless it is postponed.

one of the great things about oz iare the sports punters will not confer entitlement/respect.
Blatter turned up at the Asia Cup final in Oz and was, when introduced on stage, booed resoundingly...he looked confused

If they're dredging up shit on 2010, then they certainly have to take up 2006 too. Thought it was a certainty for South Africa and then Germany just rock up to win the bid.
Heck, they'd be hard pressed to find one bid without bribes and gratuities, even 94....

Chastity is the lack of opportunity. Sports governance being a monopoly(at least to world championships) provides plenty of opportunity. So, all of the above.
But Ecclestone being the godfather of F1 makes him a bit more special.

So, they're all reallocated then replayed? We could have a World Cup every year! England might even host or win one... well, maybe that's a bit far fetched...tricycle wrote:If they're dredging up shit on 2010, then they certainly have to take up 2006 too. Clever, but corrupt (as well) lawyers.
What gets me is that this corruption has been public knowledge for years ...
so why has it taken so long and what one thing has prompted the FBI to finally instigate an investigation?
Furthermore, if corruption is proven (as it hopefully will be) , then why continue with the farce
of having the next WC in Qatar - whose appointment was, in the first instance, surely the biggest fraudulent
act in the history of football!
A WC in the middle of a Gulf summer!
Brilliant!
That guy Warner from Trinidad ought to face a firing squad - f**king thief.

What gets in is that people "in football" are expressing surprise at the corruption.
