I said beginning to, not there yet. I wonder if anyone in the LP has looked at all this and thought about what Rupert will do to Malcolm no matter how popular he may be publicly.

10:31am: A Canberra court has thrown out Peter Slipper's conviction for defrauding the Commonwealth.
Justice John Burns on Thursday ordered the former parliamentary speaker's appeal against conviction and sentence be upheld.
Slipper was sentenced to 300 hours community service and ordered to repay $954 after a magistrate found he had illegally misused his travel entitlements to visit Canberra region wineries in 2010.
The judge ordered that be set aside and verdicts of not guilty be entered.
What a waste of time and money...

Aye. He and J-Bish are demolishing Abbott at the moment by looking like reasonable centrists. They've even brought ScoMo along for the ride.
The Libs are getting close to achieving votability.

the MM circled the wagons but it seems that some are on fire and others have been stolen...Turnbull and the anorexic are on the attack....
the stupid fascist goose is captured...at the stake or slowly roasted in the oven his goose is cooked...
never has an Australian PM been as inept, ideologically driven and fundamentally out of step and unpopular than the MM....Bruce and the lying little rodent both lost their seats in elections when serving as PM....But I have no doubt the MM would lose his safe seat by a massive margin if the election were called today

There's no way Abbott would lose his seat - too many bluebloods (in Mosman) and rednecks (in the Forest).

It's Mosman - as if they are goiing to vote out someone who went to Riverview - that's where all their boys go.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
MrK's right. If Abbott stood again in Warringah, he's safe as houses. LJH was rolled by the Asian vote gained via redistributed electoral boundaries. They massively underestimated that sector of the vote and put little time into it. It was a mistake the Bennelong Libs will never make again.
And there's a big "if" on Abbott standing at the next Fed election. If he does get rolled by Turnbull, which seems inevitable, then he'll retire gracefully to a life of volunteer fire-fighting and leisurely bike rides along the peninsular foreshore.
