Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
Shorten.
A lady who was 16 at the time, accused him of "doing bad things" to her in a toilet block at a Young Labor camp in 1986. Shorten was 19.
Cops referred it to the Vic DPP who found that it was unlikely that a case could be successfully brought.

Yeah I know. I was just curious if anyone would name him here, or if it would be quickly cut.

It was all over talkback as I drove home. So I don't think Bails will be burned.

Shorten was mentioned on Big Footy (who are extremely jumpy on anything possibly defamatory) ... so I dont think Fromage will need to worry too much

Well he clearly isn't a f&@ so there shouldn't be a problem.

"The police took the case to the OPP who advise that there was no reasonable prospect of a conviction"
is not the same as being cleared of all charges

"Not in the forward estimates" and highly rubbery figures were Swan's MO throughout his whole shitty period as Treasurer. Smirk Costello's surplus won the dreary arseclown the award of "world's best treasurer" by keeping Aus's head above water during the GFC.
no surprise ... it's the same 'consultative' style adopted by Labor bureaucracy throughout Beattie's term in Queensland. Swan and Rudd were on the same team at that stage.

I sincerely hope he was never accused of punching a wall.

I'm biased (can't abide lying Pinko Union thugs) but this was exactly my thoughts when I heard the story as it broke. The lady behind the allegations has been speaking to 3AW's Neil Mitchell, and he says she's devastated at the DPP's and Vic Cops' decision. Smoke/Fire yada yada??
And lardy's line jumped to mind as well. Pussy Wong and Juliar had a field day with that.

lets face it ...the radishes are grubs and class traitors...Shorten is vile and his defence makes me bilious...commiserations to the brave woman who raised the issue....but this joint offers no moral redemption...the filth tory class warriors are even worse...simply in the pay of the murdochs, tinklers, ginas, twiggys , rio and the ultimate filth that is BHP and most of the banks...
meanwhile having watched a little telly recently it would seem those sections of the proletariat not already infused with bizarro/sci fi beliefs in some muzzi, judeo/christian or buddhi nonsense are rivetted to reality tv shows of the schadenfreude variety (ie fatties, renovators, poor folk with disfigured bodies who get a quid for going on the telly)... it is the food porn shows that are the most disturbing

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
Labor shadow minister Richard Marles, an ally and friend of Mr Shorten's, immediately came forward to defend his party leader.
"It's a difficult step that Bill has taken today, I think it's a courageous step but I know he really wanted to clear the air on this issue," he said.
"Anyone who had been on social media would have known that Bill's name's been connected to these allegations. And I think he wanted to set the record straight once and for all, and particularly given that there has now been a thorough and detailed investigation by the Victorian Police which has made it unequivocally clear that there is no case to answer."
Mr Marles, who has known Mr Shorten since 1987, said "I know that the allegations are not true".
"I know they are not true because the person that I've known - a close friend of mine from that time right until now - is not capable of undertaking the allegations that have been made against him."
Doesn't Shorten have a reputation of shagging anything he can? ... Marles is a dickhead
