I can't believe Steyn got reprimanded for his so called send-off of Samuels. It was a peach of a ball that knocked back the Windies topscorer's off peg, and Steyn simply ran past him with a jubilant grimace. Fark, this game is turning into a baby shower.

Where does it say he got reprimanded? I can't find any mention of it.

Steyn actually got fined for showing disrespect to the batsman.

Aye, was mentioned on Inside Cricket on Aus Fox tonight. All seemed pretty innocuous to me.Red wrote:Steyn actually got fined for showing disrespect to the batsman.

Cheers tac. Farkin weak. On what I saw, Steyn deserved nothing of the sort.

Oh well. The commentators who were on at the time said that it "was not on," although later on when they were reviewing the incident they said that they couldn't see anything wrong with it. I certainly didn't see anything in there that would deserve a fine.

Aye - with that as a benchmark, you'd think Harby would have got a 3 match suspension for his send off of Ricky.

There's a difference between sending a batsman off and celebrating his wicket.
Absolute stunner of a ball from Steyn though, although not as good as the ones he bowled to Michael Vaughan, Virender Sehwag and Younis Khan. He dismissed Fidel Edwards with a similar delivery as well, although no-one took much notice of it as Edwards has to ask the coach if he's holding the bat the right way up.

Where does the match referee come from?

Well, when one cricket has-been and another cricket has-been love each other very much, they hug and snuggle for a while and then nine months later, we have a match referee.

So you and Merlo make match referees?

I noted when the commentators reviewed the incident they realised that Steyn virtually made no eye contact with Samuels nor said anything untoward. He basically just ran up screaming in delight. While over the top he probably didn't deserve a reprimand. Perhaps he should also refrain from going too near the batsman concerned. It was a peach of a delivery though.

You can only ask for consistency - Simon Jones was done for similar against Sarwan back in 2003

Probably making up for the ridiculous fine against Parchment when he barely brushed Steyn while running and got fined for it.
