Fed now 3-2 up on Rafa on non-clay GS finals.

And their career non-clay head to head is now 10 all.

So much for the Rafa media fan club's 'anytime anywhere' chest-thumping....although never from within the Nadal camp, and in any case beating Roger somewhere near half the time is still a fair whack better than most manage.

2018 tournament has started. The big Aust news is that Matt Ebden beats Isner - his first win over a top 20 player at a GS.

I seem to recall that someone on FB knows the Ebdens?

Anyhoo - we also won't be seeing Tomic this year - he will be at home counting his rapidly diminishing millions.

worst part about the Oz Open is listening to all the bandwagon tennis viewers at work talk like they're suddenly a tennis expert.

Absolutely spot on.

I used to enjoy the tennis and will watch a bit more in the second week but by and large I am over the clones and lack of flair from the bulk of players.

Aye. I liked all ball sports when I was a teen. I loved sitting up to watch Wimbledon. I have very fond memories of the night Pat Cash beat Lendl. But as per Nath and horrie, have found the game has lost its lustre with the sameness of baseline tennis.

Tennis has become akin to watching paint dry for me.

Having said that, I reserve the right to bag the fark out of qunts like Tomic, and cheer champs like Fedex and Rafa, and the new Aussie kid, what'shisname.

Ho hum Aust Open reaches the halfway stage today.

Same names in the mens. Unrecognisable names in the womens.

Pretty happy with hunj on Rafa at the start of the tournament - he's looking unstoppable.
