Aye. I liked all ball sports when I was a teen. I loved sitting up to watch Wimbledon. I have very fond memories of the night Pat Cash beat Lendl. But as per Nath and horrie, have found the game has lost its lustre with the sameness of baseline tennis.
Tennis has become akin to watching paint dry for me.
Having said that, I reserve the right to bag the fark out of qunts like Tomic, and cheer champs like Fedex and Rafa, and the new Aussie kid, what'shisname.
I don't. I lost money on that.

Pommy Edmund is about to beat Dmitrov and then be cannon fodder for Rafa in the SF.

Edmund looked like someone who was levelling off at top 50 level but this is a massive breakthrough, whatever happens now.
We’ve seen a number of new names join the race to succeed the old guard here, while the likes of Dimitrov, Zverev and Thiem still flatter to deceive, and achieve sod all at the majors.
No guarantee Roger and Rafa will hold up physically these days, so it’s still wide open.

Dmitirov, Zverev and Thiem (and I'd add Kyrgios) are consistent disappointments in Slams. At their peak, the Big 3 would rarely lose to anyone outside the top 10 over 5 sets. The shame is that those guys are still likely to collect a few slams each when the power vacuum comes in the next year or so.

Yes, Rafa's body couldn't go the distance. Retirement clears the way for Cilic to play in the semis.

Chung through to the semis - against either Fed or Berdych. I reckon Berdych could surprise tonight - he has been dominant so far.
Either way, it is the first time since 2007 that two of the big 4 haven't made the SF of the AO.

Pity for Nigel that Tennys Sandgren got knocked out. At least Serena will be happy.

Fun fact on the semi finalists:
Federer's career Grand Slam singles record: 330-52
Combined career Grand Slam record of other 3 semifinalists: 127-57

Re: Australian Tennis Open 2015
And I expect Cilic makes up well over 100 of that 127!
Almost like Tom Brady vs. the other three Championship Game QBs last weekend (he had as many Super Bowl titles as the other three had playoff starts combined!)
Being the best in the world at what you do at any point is a huge achievement, but being up there for the best part of 20 years in a physically demanding sport is quite remarkable.

I feel sorry for Aaron. But I'm pretty sure in Fed's attic is a picture of himself horribly disabled.

They're both pretty timeless but one has had more luck than the other. Actually maybe I was just trying to be a smartarse and see who else picked up on the reference.

So Woz v Halep in the final.
Winner gets their first GS win and #1 ranking.
Loser wins title of best player never to have won a major.
I think Halep is a special.

Anti-climax with the South Korean retiring before completing two sets. Fed was killing him anyway.

Fed choking. 2 sets to 1 and a break up, now we're going to the 5th with Cilic having won the last 5 games.

Cilic has always had the power to worry him. It was never going to be a cakewalk for Fed.
