The way I understood it was that if you had a private pension you had to convert it to an annuity on redemption. Now you have the option, after 55, to cash it in and use it how you like but only the first 25% will be tax free.

Got it. There was some talk that they'd move to the Aust model of allowing you to cash everything in but they look to have backtracked on that. A good thing too because one of our businesses is to manage long term infrastructure debt and a couple of our mandates were put on hold after the initial thought bubble.

The Aust system needs a halfway house like that to.
