Di Natale is the best of them ..

What is a real Australian?

usually such terms are the province of blowhard nationalists, but it seems that is now used by supporters of refugees and migrants.

http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2015/may/06/real-australians-say-welcome-from-alice-springs-to-dandenong

of course this all begs the question who is not a real Australian.

If he's any good the Greens could decimate the ALP primary vote.

All the Green's preferences flow to the ALP anyway, so it should have little effect on the final two-party preferred result.

They are voting for a new leader now.  Surely has to be Ludlam or Bandt.

And of course it is Richard de Natale.

And Bandt is dumped/resigned from the Deputy position even though they now have co-deputies.

Brandt should be grateful for not being given the poisoned chalice of the Greens leadership.

Ferkin HUZZAH!!!! Good riddance to the hateful prune-faced biatch.  cheers

It would make my day if SHY would consider the same thing.

horace wrote:Bandt is my local member...useless...supports cyclopaths

Yup. Greens always whinge and whine about things that matter not a fark and never have any practical solution to the things they are whinging about. Complete waste of Govt salary and the seat they occupy. Qunts, who have farked nearly every Council in NSW (and probably Aus).

Where is he in all this? Looking to jump ship?

I suspect he is too closely aligned to Milne and the harder core Greenies whereas Di Natale (and Ludlam) are part of the new wave of moderate Greenies.

Unemployment up to 6.2%.

Feds ripping into 'rich' pensioners.

Currently a couple of aged folk are allowed the family home and around $1.1M in joint assets to qualify for part pension.

Most self funded retirees and pensioners I know are pretty conservative in how they invest their dosh.

a couple owning their house with 1.1M invested to generate 4.5-5.0 per cent net have a combined income of $50-$55 k pa ...not a lot really...

Housing - Rates, utes, insurance maintenance (inc provision for minor capital works) means no change from $15k.

Upkeep/replacement of appliances, furniture etc $2.0

Health insurance and health/dental costs for 2 - no change from $8.0k for two - provided there is nothing major wrong.

Car - inc depreciation an average car - no change from $7.0k

Hobbies, eg golf, garden, fishing, U3a - no change from $2.0K

Food - $6.0k

Clothes - $3.0k

outings/entertainment - $2.0k

Smokes - $15k

plonk - $4k

...there is $58k before bingo, pokies, birthdays

aye and many do...a few years I did a bit of research on the impact retirees have on the economy....mostly they are seen as just consumers (and negatively as a cost to the public purse), but in practice their investment decisions are important in the economy...in Germany the bulk of the middle class continue to improve their net worth in retirement

from memory you are right - altho like here it would be means tested...

the point tho remains that retirees are considered a drain on the economy by politicians and media (certainly here) as opposed to active contributors in the economy

See that's the difference we have. The state pension is a pittance and once you have a meager income you don't qualify anyone. The free health care is putrid so you have to have medical aid (insurance). Basically once you get that last pay cheque you are on your own.

Be interesting to see if those qunt Pinkos oppose the sting on "rich retirees". They probably will, just cos their Shortarses, Plebiscites & Qunts. I'd laugh if things suddenly started getting through the Senate (despite the Pink Qunts opposing) due to the Greens not having a hateful qunt in charge.
