Chris Tremlett Retires
He's announced his retirement on the Surrey website today. At 33, the injuries which plagued much of his career have become too much.
In 12 tests, he took 53 wickets @ 27, which isn't exactly shabby - we have picked plenty worse bowlers over the years. Shame he couldn't stay fit, I think he could have been a regular in our team, good for 200+ wickets easily.

The Big Goober. Could've been top banana, I think, but for his breadstick body.
Thoroughly nice chap, wish him well in retirement.

Another "what could have been" if not for injuries bowler, have been a fair few of them recently.

I remember watching him in an U19 test at Worcester a long time ago. He was head and shoulders (in every aspect!) above every other bowler on show and it's disappointing to think he played so little test cricket, but he's still got a decent record.

Re: Chris Tremlett Retires
Although it wasn't a successful comeback and he was a shadow of the bowler that was so effective in Australia, I'm glad Trembles got a chance to get his 50th Test wicket, instead of being stranded on 49.
It might not seem a big milestone in the grand scheme of things, but it's something he can look back on: 50 Test wickets, an Ashes win in Australia, decent little career in the Simon Jones style.

Re: Chris Tremlett Retires
Hopefully it's just his knees trembling from now on. A real WMHB career.

Yeah, I thought he was going to stay fit. And a fit Tremlett was a very, very good bowler. Unfortunately, he was as brittle as ever.;

Don't England have a conditioning coach?

He was awesome at Perth in 2010. Had the Aussies jumping and prodding all over the place with his steepling bounce. Also bowled some excellent spells at Melbourne and Sydney. The Aussies admitted after that series that they didn't fancy facing him at all.
Like Simon Jones, he will be mostly remembered for his contribution to a famous English Ashes win.

Yes. That's why their hair always looks so full-bodied and lustrous.
Re: Chris Tremlett Retires
I was always a big fan of his. Wish he'd taken up yoga or something so he might have learned to cope with his own sheer mass, and we might have got a bit more of his best out of him in and England shirt. Mind you, I remember hearing murmurings that he was a bit 'too nice' for a fast bowler, so maybe cultivating inner peace and transcendental stillness would have been actually counterproductive. You idiot, Tremlett!

Always like Tremlett. When he was on it he was very accurate and difficult to score off, like a poor man's McGrath.
Farewell and good luck to him..
