Dirk had made a good start to his commentating career until that moment.

Meh, see my avatar for how it should be done. Was plenty of excitement going on at that moment as well which Freddie was able to put to one side for a few seconds to commiserate with an opposition player and congratulate him on his efforts.
Catching a guy out for 290 with the innings ended at 600+ should hardly be cause for mass Australian celebrations anyway, regardless of whether the catch was reasonably decent.
Fact is, the Aussies are just qunts, and hopefully it jolts them to hear one of their recently retired players saying so.

As no. 2 Badger Pack card holder, Trev, you would say that.

Must have been out the back having a smoke when Nannes played for Australia....

I have to say I like Nannes. Not for that view - nor in spite of that view - but because he's unafraid to state an undaunted independent view, rather than chiming in with the enthusiastic bonhomie club that so often typifies commentary teams (in Oz or elsewhere).
And no, I don't think he does it just to court controversy, or be designated bad cop in the Punch & Judy Show (beige version). Maybe it's Dutch obstinacy?
(Love the voice, too, btw ...)

Never mind the badger pack - we're getting the makings of a fair dingo pack above. Baying at Dirk Dastardly Dutchman

Small moment in the history of Oz cricket, huge moment for the kid who took the catch.
If they'd left him on his Pat Malone to give Taylor a guard of honor, you'd be screaming just as loud, just slightly different amateur mind-reading involved, something like 'stuff him, whoop-de-doo, he took a catch, what's his bloody name again, he's still not really a Test cricketer like Us, Rosco, on the other hand....'

I'm sure if Taylor had squatted down to take a shit on the pitch, the Aussies would have checked to see if he was okay too.

@Fred ...
Can't speak for Trev, Spang or anyone else - but I wouldn't!
(Funny echo of the Eagle Landing there though! )

An embarrassingly obvious attempt to divert attention from 'Taylorgate'

I thought Ross Taylor embarassed himself by scurrying off the ground and avoiding any Ozzie to make it look like they were bad sports ....even though they had acknowledged every milestone in his huge innings ....farken kiwi bastard ...absolute disgrace
by the way ...the "teenage" "kid" who took the catch is 27

Did you notice he especially went out of his way to race well clear of the Wozzies, to scapegoat them most of all?

Townsville's favourite son has retired from International Cricket.
I thought he would at least see out the series.

The "kid" who took the catch is a 27 year old who played for Tasmania as a batsman for seven years and averaged 20.

As Bumble might say- if Mitchell Marsh is a test match number six, my backside's a fire engine.

2 early wickets swings the game back to the draw. Can't see Tweek gifting the Sheep the game.

It's had enough hoses in it to qualify

Storm in a tea cup, inflamed by Dirk Nannes in commentary.
Now, that's a believable story. Clock calculations my eye

Lovely guard of honour for Midge by NZ. Fortunately there was no manchild to frot, so it was nice and clear
