Re: American Football Thread
I know he was pestered by the AF defence all night but it would have been nice for Pats fans with heart conditions if Tom Brady had realized he head a passing game before OT.

First round of the draft today. The No 3 overall pick lived on the Northern Beaches of Sydney until he was 7.

You now have a legitimate reason to hate Brady other than Giselle.

Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone earlier today.

Not sure the NFL broadcasters will be that happy either - he's the best QB in the game and taking him out for the season makes it all a bit less interesting.

Just not the same without him. Though unbelievably his OT win a couple of weeks ago was his first. Guess he didn't need to do it that often.

Re: American Football Thread
This season’s an absolute crapshoot. There’s 12 or 13 teams in with a shout in the NFC. No doubt the Patriots will overcome their shaky start to at least make another Championship Game in their conference...
Top QBs going down always damages the season as a spectacle, we’re seeing too many “battle of the backups” contests for this early in proceedings, and Rodgers was in MVP form. The Packers could still win a banged up division by going 9-7 or thereabouts, giving him a chance to come back for the play-offs I suppose...

Phillie loses their QB for the rest of the year to an ACL - so there goes their chances.

And worse still we get a lame duck team in the play-offs (and almost certainly still with a first round bye) - though Foles is far from the worst backup, they will be the team everyone wants to face in the NFC now.JGK wrote:Phillie loses their QB for the rest of the year to an ACL - so there goes their chances.

Monster choke happening in the Rose Bowl. Oklahoma (with their Heismann winning QB) were 31-14 up at HT (Georgia hadn't conceded 31 in an entire game so far this season). Georgia got it back to 31 all at 3/4 time and now Georgia have scored again off an interception.

Georgia dominated the first half but Alabama changed their QB at halftime & came back to win 26 - 23 in overtime after the QB found his receiver with a long throw for a TD. The Bama fieldgoal kicker had earlier missed an absolute sitter to win the game in normal time.

Pats though to the NFC title game again. Philly continue to show the bird to everyone who thought they were farked when Wentz got injured.

Have the Pats changed conference for a new challenge then?JGK wrote:Pats though to the NFC title game again. Philly continue to show the bird to everyone who thought they were farked when Wentz got injured.
Saw the Eagles game, Foles had a stinker in the first half but the OC found a way to get the offense moving after that without needing him to do anything spectacular. The rest of the team is so good it does make you think what might have been, they could have been a real match for the Patriots if they had their starting QB, with big game experience being the only shortcoming. The Falcons and Matt Ryan were as they’ve been all season, just not finding top gear.
Vikings-Saints looks the pick of the round, shame it’s in the late slot. You have to back the Steelers to overcome the Jags, but Big Ben threw five picks last time they met...

What a finish!
Great play in the final seconds results in a touchdown & the Vikings go through.

Indeed. What a finish. I suspect #43 for the Saints might not be allowed back into New Orleans though after botching that final tackle and taking out his team mate as well.
So we now have Brady, Foles, Keenum and Bortles as the remaining QBs.
