Re: Australia v England, 5th Test, Sydney, 4-8 January, 2018
Have a crazy theory why Joe Root produced his best innings of the summer today:
After listening to Paul Firebrace rabbiting on about 'Rooty' I figure he was inspired by knowing he was playing in front of the punters of the only pub in Australia that is named after him.

Surely Cummins must open the bowling tomorrow.
Wtf is Hollow Man doing so many pressers! He is as useless in the media as he is on the track.

Alister Nicholson has replaced Whateley for this test. Wonder if this is permanent or just short-term.

Might be permanent - since Tim Lane (another bicranial) they have liked the head AFL talking head to be a fixed part of the cricket panel as well, so he might need to emigrate to Melbourne.
They could certainly do a bloody sight worse.

Maybe for the same reason as I was encouraged to volunteer to do the scoring when I first showed up at one club I list-clogged at years ago.... nobody else will want to and 'it shows you're keen'.

It was a good catch by MM.
I expect it will be replayed in Classic Catches for years to come.

Have fun Mr S. All set up for a decent day's play.
Btw Embee, how many wickets has the great WA all rounder taken in the series thus far?

Must say Malan goes up further in estimation every time he comes out go bat. Oz need to knock him over early this am. I also think Moeen will bat well today. I predict a total near 400 is par on this road.

Comedy capers from Cummins, then Hazlewood. That's quite a few down in this innings now.
