Mea culpa. I did look it up but thought the question was about the last 8 batsmen, not 7!

So, something a bit different. ... for those with a longer view. ...
Who is this speaking?
(Or writing, if you want to be exact - though it may be "unmarked ghostwritten".)
(I thought the end a bit droll, given current concerns about cricket ...)

Errr ... see first words:
"My tours of England ...."
Further big hints that he's not a Tyke in that same first paragraph: "differ [from] our associations interested in junior cricketing welfare.. [... ...] whereas Australian Junior Cricket ..."

Further big lead - if you need a further clue:
- "My tours of England ..":
- He took part in four such tours. (Hence that voice of touring experience.)
And five (!) such series at home.

Re: Trivia 2018
tbf, it's not stats-based.
Well, the implication you might draw from the experience has some sort of stat connection perhaps, but otherwise it's a different sort of trivium.

I used to be confused, now I simply don't comprehend.
Apologies, Peter.

Gary Sobers toured England 4 times. Maybe he said it?
Bevan Congdon was another who made 4 English tours.
Was he an Aussie? Was he a he?

He refers to the Yorkshire Federation being formed "back in 1929", so was it DGB?

No. But someone who looked a bit like him at first sight (under the baggy green, at least). 14 years older.
"Back in 1929". Because the man in question had a decent longevity too - also of Test career.

Re: Trivia 2018
Indeed. From his second book "The Rattle of the Stumps" (1954). (pp26-28.)
Great title for a tome by a keeper, that.
And one of the greats of the game. Less feted than he might be, partly because of his own self-effacing humility, I suppose. But a fierce, assiduous and scrupulously fair competitor, as nimble and neat as you could get from anyone with the gauntlets, and by all accounts a very kind gent. Brave too. Cracked skull in probably still the most controversial series of them all. And badly injured in WW1. He kept picking himself up and coming back. There's resilience for you!
Nine Ashes series back to back 1920-1937. Pity he didn't quite make it to 1938 - or he would have had a hand (two) in all the inter-Wars Ashes.
Cheers to Bertie Oldfield. The most unassuming of heroes.

Re: Trivia 2018
I had to laugh when I read that T20 - so to speak - began in Yorks.
The book is an interesting read, btw. Half way through.

Re: Trivia 2018
Here's a search and destroy mission.
In the most recent JAMODI in NZ, both Mitchell Santner and Ben Stokes finished on 63* for their sides. Identical not out top scores in JAMODIs had only happened 3 times prior to that. When?
Identical not out top scores by each side in an ODI:

63* – MJ Santner/BA Stokes - NZ (223) lost to Eng (225-4), Mt Maunganui, Feb 28, 2018
Hint: All were tons*, all instances were after 1990 and each game featured a subbie side.

Re: Trivia 2018
I decided to follow an obvious hunch, and skimmed Curly's ODI record.
ODI # 3547 (16 Nov 2014), it seems he and the Angelic one notched identical 139*s.

Looking for a game in the 90s and a game in the 2000s, each involving the same subcontinental side.
