Trivia 2019
Hmm, the last triv Q I asked was way back in Dec 2018. How slack of me.
Try this one.
In the recent 1st Test Eng v Aus at Edgbaston, Chris Woakes made 37 in each innings (* in I1) batting at no. 9 for England. This is the highest instance of a player batting at no. 9 making identical scores in both innings of a Test. Care to name the highest scores in the other 10 positions where the player made the same score in each innings?
Highest instance of a player making the same score in each innings of a Test - for each wicket:
No. 1 - ?
No. 2 - ?
No. 3 - ?
No. 4 - ?
No. 5- ?
No. 6 - ?
No. 7 - ?
No. 8 - ?
No. 9 - 37* & 37 – CR Woakes (Eng) - v Aus, Birmingham, 2019
No. 10 - ?
No. 11 - ?
Small hint: All top scores in positions 1 to 6 are above 50 (two above 100), while all top scores for positions 7 to 11 are below 40.

Geebers Skully. As I try to answer these Triv ?s without recourse to search engines, I find them very hard.
I do have an odd feeling AB may have had a repeat ton with the same score. On the right track or de-railed as usual?

Re: Trivia 2019
Not AB, h.
Yeah, not a real easy one, but I hunt for triv based on interesting stuff that happens in matches just gone. The fact that Woakes made 37 in each innings struck me as a pretty high identical both-innings-score for a no. 9, and sure enough, it was the highest such instance.
Another hint: One of the top 6 positions is held by a player from the same era as AB and who played against him in just one very short "series". I reckon his record has been mentioned a few times in triv Qs over the years.

Re: Trivia 2019
The centuries would be Duleep Mendis & Misbah-ul-Haq.

I thought Mendis was the only one to have identical scores above 100, and no name, date or nation but who fell short of fifty twice in the same match.

He was Q, until Misbah-ul-Haq did it v us in 2014-15.
Wally is of course correct:
Highest instance of a player making the same score in each innings of a Test - for each wicket:
No. 1 - ?
No. 2 - ?
No. 3 - ?
No. 4 - 105 & 105 – LRD Mendis (SL) - v Ind, Madras, 1982-83
No. 5 - 101 & 101* – Misbah-ul-Haq (Pak) - v Aus, Abu Dhabi, 2014-15
No. 6 - ?
No. 7 - ?
No. 8 - ?
No. 9 - 37* & 37 – CR Woakes (Eng) - v Aus, Birmingham, 2019
No. 10 - ?
No. 11 - ?
Mendis played in the one-off Test v Aus (including AB) in Kandy in 1982-83.

Someone got twin 49s. I was looking for border's twin 150 numbers the other night when I can across it. Farked if I can find the website now.

Re: Trivia 2019
And I reckon the answer is Umar Akmal in the unlosable Test v us in Sydney in Jan 2010, when Punter said "we'll bat" on an absolute greentop.
Akmal indeed made 49 in each innings as Pak very suspiciously fell in a heap to hand the match to Aus by 36 runs when they were only chasing 176 (a target scratched up due largely to a 120+ stand for the 9th wicket between the ever-legendary Mike Hussey (134*) and Peter Siddle (38)).

Re: Trivia 2019
Ah yes. The reason on the odd occasions I bet on Pak test matches, I make very little. 20 to get, eight wickets in hand and you just have to spend good money on them losing.

Re: Trivia 2019
Your memory is sound. Kallicharran indeed made twin 80s (exactly 80 in each innings) v England at The Oval in July 1973. He was batting at no. 5 so doesn't beat Misbah-ul-Haq's effort in 2014-15.

.. and Sir Frank also famously was ct Grout b Davidson 65 in both innings of the original tied test but they were made at #5 so do not count in this trivia. He made a pair in the next game.

500 odd pairs in test cricket I found out whilst surfing the other night. Might be an interesting one skulls. Lowest identical scores that weren't pairs.

Re: Trivia 2019
Each wicket. 1 to 11.
I want the man who has the highest score of all players who made the same score in each innings batting at no. 1. Same for no. 2, and no. 3, etc.
Woakes made 37 in each innings of recent T1, which turns out to be the highest ever identical-score-in-each-innings while batting at no. 9.
Of the players who made identical scores in each innings batting at 4, nobody has a higher identical score than Duleep Mendis's 105 in each innings, so he has the record for the no. 4 spot.
Wally mention Bevan Congdon making a pair of 54s at no. 3. This is just shy of another no. 3 who made a slightly higher pair of identical scores.
